Only problem is, my windows are funky and you can't mount a window type in them.

Can you get one that rolls around or something, like those portable heaters?

nope.. because AC is basically a heat exchanger.

one part gets cold, other part gets hot ( the part outside ).

if it were all inside your house.. it wouldnt do much good because it would cancel out.

sure you can get one. the truly portable ones have a vent hose...sorta like a dryer does. example model (first one).

It's been pretty hot and humid. The worst part is the lame-ass apartment I have doesn't even have central air.

Try talking to your landlord. If you're willing to throw a few bucks into the deal he/she might be willing to put a hole in the wall for it. The deal would probably require you to leave the a/c unit behind when you move. At least you'd be comfortable though.

By "funky", do you mean they slide open from the side rather than top-to-bottom? If so, you can still get A/C units (I have one of these windows, they're called "casement). They're more expensive than regular units though.

If by "funky" you meant something else, disregard my post.

That's what I'd do, just for the comfort and convenience it'd be worth it. I've seen powerful 8,000 BTU a/c's for around $250 at CostCo, Fry's, Sam's, Walmart, Sears, you name it.

you can get something lame like this.. they have it in 'useless/cool stuff' catalogs..

it has a fan in it and a water bottle, you fill up the bottle and freeze it, lasts like 4 hours or something

They are all out of stock at the moment :(

Sams club had one model before, I forgot how many BTUs but I believe it was $549...
