I need a new TV series to watch

I'll second the recommendation of Sherlock, I just started watching it this week and I've watched nothing else. Plus it's available on netflix instant queue.

I did the same thing. Watched a season and a half of it... it just bored me. Sure, it's "real", but it wasn't particularly exciting much of the time.

2nd season of the Wire is generally regarded as "the worst" season. 3rd and 4th are the best.

You owe it to yourself to pull through. 😉

Since I last posted in this thread, we watched the first season of Homeland and the first 6 episodes of Breaking Bad.

Really enjoyed Homeland, although it was a little slower moving than I expected.

Also really liking Breaking Bad, but not always in the mood for it since it's kinda depressing.

We've also continued watching Alcatraz and it's decent, but not great. I like the overall story line and the mystery aspect, but each episode seems too focused on that week's case and not the overall story, if that makes sense. Kind of like watching CSI or Law and Order, where each week is a different case to solve and there isn't much of a bigger picture story.

I felt the same way about Terra Nova. I liked the continuing story line, but there were way too many pointless sub plots.

I heard Netflix is negotiating to continue Terra Nova, since it was cancelled after its first season. I wonder if they will make other changes to the show if they do get it as their own series. I was intrigued by the show, but the lacklustre reviews kept me away, maybe a fresh start with NF will inject some life into it.

I don't watch much TV, but I love Breaking Bad and Hell on Wheels.

Otherwise my favorites are probably not your "type", Dr Who, Parks & Recreation, and Top Gear...

It's Always Sunny is awful, besides he does not seem to be looking for sitcoms.

Has anyone watched Homeland? I've heard good things. I kind of want to catch up with it at some point.

It is pretty terrible. I watched an episode and enjoyed it, then realized that the entire episode was the same as the first 5 minutes. same with the next handful of episodes that I sat through. Same stupid jokes over and over.

You watch your mouths! IASIP is the best comedy out there. Seasons 1-4 were the best. But this past one got back on track. Rock, Flag, Eagle!!!

i'm dying guys, my wife started watching 'Scarecrow and Mrs. King' on amazon , its killing me!

That would be interesting ... would be nice if they 'fixed' it.

I started watching a new series called "Awake" that seems to have potential. There's only one episode right now, but its premise is intriguing. The protagonist lives two parallel lives right after a tragic car accident, one while he is awake and the other while he is asleep - and he can't distinguish between them.

HAHA...I used to love that show:wub:

As for the OP maybe watch GCB (Good Christian Bitches) that just started this week, basically it makes fun of religion and Texas all at once so many here should find it thoroughly enjoyable.

Sherlock
Shameless (U.S.; Wm. H. Macy is, at times, fucking brilliant)
Homeland (but it better get better next season)

Spartacus is a great series. You'll have a lot of catching up to do, but it would be well worth it. Only other sitcoms I watch are from the Law & Order series.
