Yup.

There are 5 or so major pieces ---- Here is a synopsis that is about 3 weeks old but it covers most of the highlights. 98.23546% of the final legislation will most likely come the the current bills before Congress.

I'm all for a self-funded (at least 85%+) public option and the requirement of mandatory insurance for every one ---- private or public.

I also think poor folks should pay something --- even if it's just $10/wk in payroll deduction, and maybe a $20-$30 co-pay for a doctor visit.

To appreciate it, yah gotta help pay for it --- LOL

edit: I forgot to add ---- I'm a little worried about the ""no denial of coverage based on preexisting conditions"". I don't really know how to address that except though something like a 'catastrophic umbrella' of reinsurance.

I've not heard any one really address this but what good would coverage be for someone with a serious preexisting condition if their premium were $1,000 to $17,500 a month ???

There are two health care bills. One is in Congress and hasn't been finalized. The other is the Imaginary health care bill, the one most people support.

Hack, much ?

So you are with the people who vote for political points instead of people...gotcha! ;)

I can accept the fact that just because someone has different views on a subject than me, it doesn't mean they don't care about America.

She's no GOP member. She's the very definition of RINO. But she's smart enough to know that this version and the stuff in the house have totally irreconcilable differences.

Logical argument and I stand corrected.

I believe it is Universal Healthcare, or "single-payer" that is unachievable. Really, a government subsidized option that competes with private is nowhere near what the real Left is after.

It actually makes me feel all warm inside that the true "Left" in the US is nothing but a fringe (Hillary, Kucinich, etc).

The bills floating around right now setback real UHC for decades.

I believe you mean government-sponsored, not subsidized

I think there's a difference.

And I'm glad you can find small victories when they present themselves :)

I think she is voting this way because she has a conscious.

A right wing nut friend of mine who sends me 'RE: FW: FW: FW: OMGOBAMMAISASOCIALIST' Emails all the time said Snowe is a RINO because she works with the (D)'s. Apparently compromise is not allowed in the (R) party.

The GOP is great at fear mongering, stalling and obstructing anything that resembles progress.

If by progress you mean regression, then I'd agree.

To the question posed originally, I say that inevitable reaction to Snow's committee vote proves that you are NOT wrong about the GOP. While on rare occassion a very tiny minority may stray, it is pretty clear that the overwhleming mandate of national GOP politicians is to obstruct and oppose any and all actions proposed by this administration. I can see where one party disagrees totally with the other party on a particular subject-say taxes, or a particular war, but to have essentially ALL members vote NO on everything clearly shows playing partisan politics is far more important to the GOP than attempting to run this country. Where are the alternative plans? Amendments from the GOP?

No, I don't think you are wrong about the GOP at all.

That is not to say the Bacchas bill is any great or drastic reform, far from it. It's a watered down mess already, and will acheive very little actual reform.

The alternative plans/amendments from the GOP are constantly brought up in committee like requiring the bill to be available for 72 hours before a vote. I don't think you've been following congress for this term. It isn't that they just vote no on committee, it's that common sense checks and balances to very wide spread harmful legislation are not included in any of the bills congress is passing. So of course they vote no on it, they are harmful laws.

This will not impact profit margins on health insurance or care providers. It will only raise your premiums and care costs.

Are you referring to the Baucus bill or the other bills that are on the table?

Snowe's rationale for her vote is priceless. In other words, "We must show the public that government is capable of doing something, regardless of the specifics of what it is we're doing."
