Why? After reading this thread and finding out who he is why would I know anything about a Hasidic Jew entertainer who performs religious based music? I am not Jewish so how would I have ever heard of him? Plus, you live in NJ which is basically a haven for Jews so it makes sense that everyone around you would know him.

Let's see, he was on Letterman, Kimmel, Carson Daly, every other damn show, he was in Rolling stone and every other music mag, his videos are on MTV and VH1, his Live at Stubbs album is selling like hotcakes and climbing the charts, it has nothing to do with where I live. The guy is big.

Look at this weeks numbers

I watch NONE of those shows and definitely would not turn on MTV for any reason. The guy is big in YOUR world, which is fine by me. I bet I could ask everyone I know and they would say they have never heard of him. Even if I saw him on a show like Letterman he would be a flash in the pan in my world and I would never think of him again. Don't take this the wrong way as I am not slamming him or you in anyway. This is just an example of how EVERYONE tends to view the world through their own eyes and assume others see the same things.

The guy might be big, but its not like he's a household name... i think i heard a reference to him once, but it kinda seemed like a gimmick to me. never heard his music though.

I think I know who you are talking about, but even still, this would be the perfect Thread to parody,

"I met Aluwodhanacacaca"

and then in the thread I would post.

"You don't know who he is? He is famous. Come on people." ;)

im a huge fan of matis, his reggae is so badass it's almost rap and rock too, his beatbox is sickest evar!!

Paint the scene so you could see, the city's picking up speed
On a bench 14th street, taxi's streaming yellow streaks
Spears piercing through my ears, you could hear the traffic speak
Jack hammers drill smacking through the cracking concrete
Buildings filled with windowsills spilled tangled telephone wires
Signs sparking neon lights flash like wild fire
My insides rise I start to feel paralyzed
Let out a sigh-a melody blew by- like an ancient war cry
the way the sunlight hit the trees it really caught my eye,
glistening' listening' to the breeze dancing' through the leaves of the trees
freeze, the city move's in slow motion like a dream

Fixed. And you need to get out more. Just 'cause you radio station's DJ only plays one track from his CD doesn't mean he only has 1 song.

The fallacy in that is you assumed most everyone regularly watches TV. I am willing to be t a large part of ATOT doesnt watch anything on TV at all, myself included. Just guessing though, not making a bold claim :)

I had no idea who the guy was, but you seem to like him so  for you.

Once people get by the novelty of it all they start to realize that the music happens to be frigging awesome.
