untill u go to taiwan ... pay about NT $800 ..
DUDE ... .......... just take my word.. none of the chines buff here match anything over there :|

You're comparing two different things. most of the people here will never had the chance to go to Taiwan even thou they should. The price of food there is so cheap! NT$800 is about $24. For that, you can have a 6 course meal!

I've had NT$100(~ $3USD) Fire Pot All you can eat, filled with various seafoods. Not to mention the famouse street vendors hawking delicious food.

If you want to go to Taiwan, you won't spend much on food. US citizen doesn't need a visa if you want to stay for less than 14 days.

Yes but the food is loaded with msg and it's the same stuff (fried rice, lo mein, sweet and sour chicken) at every restaurant. If you go to a good Chinese restaurant you'd never go back to a buffet

As long as it's cheap I don't care.

I have not met a chinese buffet that I like. The food is old, dry, and just plain nasty. Unless I'm going to the wrong ones. Chinese restaurants on the other hand is so much better.

Any suggestions for good chinese buffet in the so. cal. area preferably San Gabriel?

<--wanting some cheap, good and all you can eat chinese food 🙂

Chinese = GOOD. 🙂

But I found out, that they use a lot of MonoSodium Glutamate in their dishes for flavoring, which is linked to retinal damage and blindness. 🙁

A lot of chinese restaurants have americanized their ingredients, using the cheapest oils they can buy and cutting corners on the recipes... I remeber chinese food as a kid being oh so good, now I can tell when they're not making it like they use to. Whenever I find a restaurant that still have flavorable dishes with good oils and meats and veggies and spices I stick with them for awhile...

the link is odd, because logically chinese would be quite blind 🙂

eh, i like quality over quantity most of the time.

In Taiwan you get quality AND quantity at the same time. And I'm talking about different cusines you can get in Taiwan.

Hmmm, I think McDonald's there cost the same as here thou.

You think Chinese eat those buffets like we do? Watch them eat when they have a break. They usually eat white rice, have a big tall glass of water, and eat some special thing they've made. I don't think authentic chinese food has MSG in it... they use a lot of natural soy sauces and fish oils...

Yeah, they rule.

There's a chinese buffet close by here. All you can eat for 6.75 dinner.

Fried shrimp, mandarin chicken, pepperwings.. YUM!

Sounds like you're talking about Vietnamese refugees. (because poor mainland Chinese don't eat fish sauce/oil) 😀

If I remember correctly, when we were little and back in Taiwan, my parents cook with soy sauces, MSG, salt, sasame oil, and pork oil(lard?), and other spices.

No, he is probably referring to people from Taipei (cause only people from Taipei could afford expensive buffets) 🙂

We had a sumptous lunch and two generously poured drinks each. It's well worth $20 each, we both work hard
and are certainly worth it🙂

Man, in Toronto, Mandarin's dinner buffet is $20+tax per person! And they didn't even have orange chicken, or sweet and sour chicken. But i'm guessing they change the selection every day.

seriously you pay good price and you get to pick whatever you want to eat. In regular restaurant you order something if you dont like it you wasted $$$

You'd love Eau Claire, Wi. There's just about one every block.
