Oh man! Dont get me started, in Fresno, CA we have chinese food buffets up the yowzers! Ranging from all price ranges, as cheap as $3.99 (with out soda, but you get water😉). All are about the same, good food, hot asian chicks, and hot asian chicks!

I prefer sushi buffet. Todai's on the west coast is pretty decent. The best Chinese food I've had was in Vancouver, B.C. Hons has pretty good stuff. I have yet to go to San Fran Chinatown though. One of these days...

I went to one in Toronto once that was over $20 but it was loaded with fresh seafood - lobster, etc. Very yummy.
Store name?

There are lots of nice places in Toronto if you know where to look.

It's called Madarin.

They have Alaska king crab or something, can't remeber.

seriously you pay good price and you get to pick whatever you want to eat. In regular restaurant you order something if you dont like it you wasted $$$

There are other buffets too. Specifically there are soom good BBQ buffets and pizza buffets around.

mmm reminds me of when I used to work at a Chinese restaurant. For christmas they put on the most impressive seafood buffet I have ever seen. Plus it was open bar.... 😀

I don't like buffets that much though, unless it's a good one the food is usually bad, and even the best buffet doesn't stand up to Yum cha!

hehe, they seem to be quite popular over here in SE Michigan now, but they don't compare to out West or in Toronto...

Speaking of buffets tho, my sister called me earlier (she's visiting colleges in Cali with my mom) and said that our relatives took them to some $30 per person Sushi buffet? That'd be so cool...the sushi must be at least halfway decent.....<droool...>

Oh well, I had nice fat rice noodles for dinner and then 3 slices of pizza at midnight. 🙂

i had a nice chinese buffet i used to go to, until the guy who told me about it said they got caught serving cat. no sh!t, i do remember that some of the meat had a weird texture and taste, and some of the ribs were definately not pork or beef, or anything i had seen. i don't see any reason the guy giving me the info would lie, but who knows. anyway, i stay away from that one now

Back when I used to ponder if there was really a God I decided that if there were a Heaven that it would have to include an all you can eat Chinese Buffet open 24/7 ,it would be located right next door to the chocolate store which was also open 24/7 🙂

yeah it depens on location as well, some owner are cheap try to feed you with crap.

stay away from all locations in Brooklyn, NY

There is nice one in Long Island on old country road, one very nice one in North Jersey near Route 17

The one on Old Country Road sucks (if you're talking about the one between Jerusalem Av and Newbridge Rd). East Buffet is where it's at. Rte 110 right across from Walt Whitman Mall.

in college i went to one with a buddy and the food was nasty. my first plate i put three things nad piled them high, they were all disgusting. next plate tried different things, were all nasty again. tried everything in the buffet, everything garbage. the owner walks by our table and says that if we don't eat everything and take more, she is going to charge us double. me and my buddy just laugh really hard tell her the food is nasty and walk out of the place (you pay before you eat).

last time i ever went to a chinese buffet.

Chinese = GOOD. 🙂

But I found out, that they use a lot of MonoSodium Glutamate in their dishes for flavoring, which is linked to retinal damage and blindness. 🙁

A lot of chinese restaurants have americanized their ingredients, using the cheapest oils they can buy and cutting corners on the recipes... I remeber chinese food as a kid being oh so good, now I can tell when they're not making it like they use to. Whenever I find a restaurant that still have flavorable dishes with good oils and meats and veggies and spices I stick with them for awhile...

Yes but the food is loaded with msg and it's the same stuff (fried rice, lo mein, sweet and sour chicken) at every restaurant. If you go to a good Chinese restaurant you'd never go back to a buffet

Whenever I have to make a trip out to my Firm's Headquarters for a department meeting, I try and go to the local Japanese restaurant. Now that food is still authentic, their green tea is real, their fried rice is actually fried rice, yummy yummy *salivating*

Seriously, a good Chinese Buffet is like one of those little secrets in life that no one ever tells you about.

But it has to be GOOD, not those crappy ones where all the food is in the same damn sauce. (Have had that happen before.)

Yeah, I hear you people.

Damn, I'm hungry.

KeyserSoze

I hate that. :| And there's no soy sauce in it and they use cheap vegetable oil. :|

By the way, I had chinese food today. 😀 It was chicken and veggies in a black bean sauce. It was okay. 😛 I could really go for some real Japanese Teryiaki chicken and fried rice though...
