It might be a more effective fix if we addressed the reason why people's countries are so horrible that they will leave their motherland, undertake risky journeys, and accept slave-labor levels of pay.
I think drug money plays a huge role in keeping Central and South American governments corrupt. If we ended the war on drugs, we would dry up a lot of that corruption money as well as a lot of the cartel violence caused by that lucrative black market. We wouldn't need to spend money on walls or e-verify or other things that cost a lot but don't deal with underlying issues that are caused by our drug policy.
Yea, pretty sure people have brought this up for a while. I've been saying it for 10+ years. The WoD is a huge money pit with repercussions that really impact us in multiple ways.
Our view on drugs needs to change. I'm very supportive of my states (MA) campaign to reduce.drug use / addiction with efforts that change how we view it as taboo.
Personally, I support ending the WoD, abolish the DEA, decriminalize all drugs, fund education and treatment.
I've chosen to discuss the topic with my own kids whenever the opportunity comes up. I give them the real deal,.not all drugs are created equal, some drugs are ok in moderation, others aren't ok at all.
