One thing I hate is when you have a small tab ($9), you hand the waitress a $20 and she/he asks if you need change. Uhhm, yea!
Because this would have been more appropiate as a blog entry, dumbass. :roll:Originally posted by: loup garou

I've never had a really bad waiter, so I normally tip 20%.
Wednesday we went out to dinner for my grandfather's 91st birthday, my hamburger was disgusting, but everyone else enjoyed the meal so I still left 20%
As I mentioned, some things are beyond the control of your waiter. If your burger was terrible, that is solely on the kitchen and the tip shouldn't be lowered. Glad you still left 20%. Refills, delayed service on requests for extras (napkins, condiments, etc.), failure to provide check/change/receipt, rudeness, etc. are on the hands of the servers. Poor food quality, delayed food, etc. is on the kitchen/management.

The guy never refilled the drinks, took 5 minutes before we were greeted at the table, and didn't ask about desert, just dropped the check off. Also, we had the card in the check minder for about 15 minutes.
It's times like these I'm glad waiters make $3 /hour. I'm normally all for standardized hourly wages.
whoops, thought this was the myspace blog, my bad

For people questioning what niggardly means, it means petty or stingy.

The word niggard 'an extremely stingy person; miser' has absolutely nothing to do, etymologically, with the similar-sounding racial slur. Niggard is first recorded in Middle English in the fourteenth century--far earlier than the slur--and is from Scandinavian sources. The base word in Middle English was nig 'a niggard', which combined with the suffix -ard, which is used to form usually derogatory personal nouns such as drunkard or dullard. The base nig is related to similar words in Old Norse and Old English.

Wait, but what is the etymology of the word? If the formation of that word has implications of what many people think when they see it, they're justified in calling it a racist word.
