I left rice out...

I left rice out overnight...about 7 hours ago. I made 2 cups dry and was planning on making fried rice this afternoon. But I forgot to put it in the fridge after making it last night. Should it still be fine?

depends on temperature overnight. Unless you are in a humid subtropic environment, you are fine.

I do live in Texas... It was covered for most of the night it that helps.

The only reason I don't want to throw it out it because I don't have any rice left and don't plan on going to the store until later.

err, what was the temperature and humidity? Most likely it is ok.

Temperature was about 75 and humidity was probably above average since Texas is super humid...but it was inside. I just smelled it and it smelled like yummy rice.

i was just gonna come in based on the title and say to use it for fried rice...so...yeah, use it for fried rice as long as it doesnt look or smell funky.

Usually if the rice is fresh, you can leave it out. In fact, my family always leaves hot food out overnight. Make sure its covered.

From government food safety site:

"Uncooked rice can contain spores of Bacillus cereus, bacteria that can cause food poisoning. When the rice is cooked, the spores can survive. Then, if the rice is left standing at room temperature, the spores will germinate into bacteria. These bacteria will multiply and may produce toxins (poisons) that cause vomiting or diarrhoea. Reheating the rice won't get rid of these toxins.

So, the longer cooked rice is left at room temperature, the more likely it is that bacteria, or the toxins they produce, could stop the rice being safe to eat."

Don't eat that shit, it only takes 20 mins to make new stuff on the stove.

everyone knows that old rice turns people into zombies, don't do it OP, unless you also want brains with your rice.
