I haven't died yet. Any tips on making fried rice less mushy? It's not really mushy at all, but I think I have room for improvement.

at my parents home rice seemed to last forever. at my house cooked rice left in the cooker overnight = smells. 2 nights = smells worse. 3 nights = you can see moldy and spongy stuff growing

You need to intentionally cook the rice drier than normal. Leftover rice is good for this purpose actually since some of the water will leave the rice. Also use short grain rice since it holds together better. I usually use korean or chinese short grain rice with about 80-90% of the water I typically use for rice eaten normally with dinner.

Put it in the refrigerator, it'll dry it out. Then microwave it when you want to eat.

A co-worker of mine ate a taco bell burrito that had been sitting out for about 27 hours... She had no ill effects.
She credited her "eye-ron" (iron) stomach.

Germans, go figure. 😛

EDIT:

Oh yeah, she didn't even reheat it. I gave it to her one day, then the next day when she was leaving I said "Hey! You never ate this burrito I gave you!" and she picked it up and ate it...hah.

listen to this guy...he can make a wedding cake out of a box of quaker oats and some sugar packets he stole from Denny's.

I eat sticky rice and often times leave leftover rice out on the kitchen counter. It's good for mixing into soups/stews - won't be as hot.

I'm eating cooked chicken that has been in my fridge for about a week. whats the worst that could happen?

i'd eat it. it's just one night and it wasn't super hot, furthermore it was covered. if anything i'd fry it up with an egg or two since it (usually) gets all dry and stuff after a couple hours

I hate that phrase because it's wrong.

How about eating tree bark? It's not going to kill you, but it sure as well won't make you stronger. You'll just be eating nasty tree bark.
