You should have shot the dog before the authorities arrived. Good work, though!

ive actually witnessed a police dog shooting about 9 years ago. was a huge white mail pit bull that was running around an apartment complex nipping at kids and adults. the cops showed up, could not contain the dog, so they friggin shot it, i saw the entire thing.

i even walked by the dog after they shot it, one shot was fired, and it landed right between the dogs eyes.

this was in marysville ca, when i was 14.

It's what needs to be done. It is now likely to be a few weeks at best before the dog is euthanized, if at all.

Who kicks a dog to stop them from attacking? That's just stupid.

Good job, though! You're the man now, dog!

Actually a swift HARD kick straight to the throat will usually do it.

I just figure it'll make the dog more violent. I know that if someone were to kick me, I'd sure as hell be pissed off.

I wear steel toed boots 90% of the time so I'm pretty sure a good kick from me would do some damage. But then again, dogs are quick and it would be hard to kick if the dog was biting you.

I think if I had my hands around it's neck I would probably squeeze until the thing was dead...although pit bulls necks are probably too thick to get my hands complete around....perhaps just reach one hand and rip out it's throat.

i hope the owners of the dogs get the book thrown at them, pit bulls are a dangerous animal and I am very happy that denver and most of the suburb cities have or are in the process of banning them.

I hope the girls are going to be ok, they will have emotional and physical scars for a long time.

Good job in helping them.

Good job OP ... kudos for stepping in where many wouldn't. You must be pretty strong to be able to hold one of those buggers by the neck. That little girl may owe her life to your actions.

Awesome. Does anyone know whos dog it is?

Nope. Never seen Pit's running around loose before (near here). Neither of the dogs had collars.

I'd have gotten a firearm.

Or my steel-toed boots and a football suit.

Or whatever sharp piece of garden equipment was in reach in my garage.

I didn't even think of that. My first reaction was to run over there and help. I've got a four year old daughter, and I pray to god that someone would do the same for her if she was in a situation like this.

Oh believe me, it crossed my mind more than once. Had it been my daughter being injured I don't believe I would have showed any self control.

Animal control is here, be back soon.

I hope they're OK as well. I'm going to stop by the hospital on my way to pick up my daughter to check on them.

And if you were already attacking me...I don't see how that would matter! You were pissed before, now your pissed and hurt.

It will choke them and make them think twice. Though...with a pit bull I dunno how well it would work.

.45 works great though.

Well yeah I understand not thinking of it and just going to help. Actually I'd probly not think of it either. I was just trying to express my hate for the things. 2 of them lived nextdoor to me for the last year, they finally moved out yesterday. I know they fought them, every Monday morning they'd have scars. SPCA didn't care because it wasn't illegal to have them if they were fenced.

Good job.

Good job. I keep a gun in my garage and would have shot it.

Those of you that think pit bulls should be banned can kiss my butt -- and my pit bull's butt.

when you go go get a gift certificate at DQ or other ice cream shop in your area and give to them.

Impressive - three pages in and not a single Chuck Norris joke even though someone blatantly left it open when asking who would kick a dog.

 for helping to have possibly saved the little girl

 for not being one of the dweebs who would have immediately posted "a girl up the street is getting attacked by a dog. What should I do? POLL"

why must people buy or breed such agressive dogs, in this day and age, there are no real needs for a pitbull other than if your profession is a pimp or a drug dealer, i hope every city starts banning these dogs.

i see so many kids these days walking their pits thinking its so cool to have one, unforunately they dont know how dangerous it can be for others around them.

good job on helping out those poor little girls. if that was me, i would have looked for something to beat those damn dogs with like a lead pipe or something that would do serious injury.
