Don't freaking apologize for anything, Ameesh. Total agreement with Alienwho. I swear that a good dozen people just troll around hoping to jump into a thread with the name "WombatWoman" in it and play savior. The woman herself could be a saint or an attention whore for all I know; but the rest of you sure as hell aren't doing her any good with the flames in her defence (against what?).

Excuse me while I laugh and barf at the same time. There is something both hilarious and sickening here, that someone like 0sully (who is one of the Eakers worshippers) is speculating that WombatWoman might be an "attention whore."

I'm dismayed at the resentments threads like this always seem to dredge up. I would wonder what people are holding against me and waiting to pull out in argument.

This thread should die soon. It is spiralling out of good humor and into aggression too quickly.

*snort* Worshippers? She's a close RL friend. Whatever you think of her has little to do with me.

You're exactly what I'm talking about, too. As soon as the magic word is mentioned, you're ready to spill flames out of your ass. The lot of you need to get a grip - you're not doing her any favours!

Topic :
Happy Birthday to the Nicest Guy at AnandTech!

Body:
It is now past midnight. March 6th, 2001 has arrived in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

The kindest, most intelligent, funniest man I've never met has just turned 44 years of age.

Happy Birthday, dear Denis.

Thats not funny dude. Like signalman said, most of us like Dennil before that incident.

Well, I still don't see why people instantly started hating him after that. I mean, as everyone said, he was a nice guy. So he played a joke on people, he didn't want to it to spiral out of control so that's why he had to end it. I still think its wrong for people to hate him for that. All those years of being a nice guy and in one second he becomes a monster because he dared to have some fun.

If I did that to my RL friends, I doubt I'd have any today.

<< WW did you know you someone is following you?

i find it strange that some one would take soo much interest in an online persona.
>>

I find it strange that Ameesh is suddenly noticing a link that has been in Ornery's sig for at least six months.

As for taking "soo much interest in an online persona," many of us have had extensive correspondence with WW, and she is not just "an online persona" to us, but a vivid human presence. With green hair.

That anyone could even consider calling this goodhearted and talented woman an "attention whore" is beyond belief.

He called her an attention whore as much as he called her a saint. He tried to say he knows nothing about her. If someone said that they do not know if you are a bad person or a good person, would you take offense against them for calling you a bad person? No. Your hate-filled defense of WW does not help her image either.

WW:
All the old threads have been deleted and Ameesh is not the first person to confuse you with Nowheremom. No matter how good a friend I was with someone, I would be be a little put off if they regarded my threads as scripture. You on the other hand seem to enjoy the attention.

I think everrybody here is a little bit TOO sensitive when it comes to WW. Granted, maybe u guys should be with what she has gone through but you also have to realize how many people are on this board and how many new people there are on this board that don't know every little thing that goes on at AT.

Now let's look at this rationally. Personally if I had no idea who WW was and suddenly stumbled across this website, yes it would be freaky! It is somewhat stalker-ish. But knowing what I do know, then yeah, the website is understandable. Ameesh has stated clearly SEVERAL times that he doen'st know the history of WW yet everyone seems to be jumping down his throat for a simple mistkae that anyone could have made. You guys just add to the whole WW fiasco in my opinion.

Since this is back to the top, I've got a quick question for jthsmak. You seem to know a lot about this issue for somebody that just registered in July, 2001. What moved you to post?

"I swear that a good dozen people just troll around hoping to jump into a thread with the name "WombatWoman" in it..."

...and spew venom too, eh 0sully? Why is that? There would be no reason to "play savior", if not for that little detail, no? BTW, why did you feel the urge to post here?

djheater didn't hesitate to defend Ameesh, I don't see that as a problem, do you? But turn it around and speak up for Jean, whoa, now that's a problem!

franguinho and Valhalla1 felt the need to jump in too. I swear that a good dozen people just troll around hoping to jump into a thread with the name "WombatWoman" in it!

I have to agree. I am sure people underwent some trauma and feel very passionate about it, but many of us have no idea what occurred. That isn't meant to invalidate anyone's feelings, but please don't assume that anyone who asks about this issue or who has heard confusing bits and pieces of whatever happened is trying to cause trouble or should be snapped at.

"...please don't assume that anyone who asks about this issue or who has heard confusing bits and pieces of whatever happened is trying to cause trouble or should be snapped at."

Are you referring to WW snapping at Ameesh? If so, he's got a pretty poor history with Jean, so I doubt he's surprised by her response. He did apologize, so that's cool. Some other posts I've seen don't seem to qualify as mere curiosity, do they? They're pretty much asking for a flame war, IMO. Can't cry for them when they get what they ask for, now can ya?

I guess the issue is just so tightly loaded for all those involved :( Wish there was some way to reduce the tension.

I hope I did not misread you, but in that I stated that the defense of WW is endearing I don't see how you could think I believe it is a problem.

I do not hesitate to defend anyone who I believe is maltreated. WW had the vocal majority and certainly did not need my intercession. Ameesh seemed to need it more that's all.

Had everybody been taking his side and bashing WW I would have stood up for her. WW is a valuable member of AT..... so is Ameesh.....

sometimes, you folks can be babies.

everybody is so quick to jump and snap these days. if you want to air out dirty laundry, do it elsewhere. it's bad enough i have to wait 5 minutes for a thread to come up that when it does it's filled with such drivel.

now everyone get real. some of you are real, some aren't. Some are what you want to be, some pretend to be, and others just baffle me.

if you wanna go play, go post on boom games or something. (is it still around?)

" I don't see how you could think I believe it is a problem."

No, that's 0sully who has a problem with others defending people, which would make his defending Ameesh sort of hypocritical, eh? ;)

"...i have to wait 5 minutes for a thread to come up..."

I hear that! That's why I never would have seen this topic, if it hadn't been brought to my attention, yesterday morning. I NEVER click on a topic with such a generic title!

Look, my post was not intended to "flame" Ameesh. I like Ameesh, we get along well, and he makes me laugh alot on Adul's board. All in all he is a good guy to me, and has always been nice. I just don't think its very nice, when you admit you don't know someones history, to start saying how they were in porn pictures. If you don't know, then you don't know, simple nuff, no reason to go spreading things you don't know as fact. And I would say that to anyone in the real world too, its just not very nice to do. But I don't think he is some evil guy who wanted to hurt anyone, I just think that maybe he didn't handle the question in the best way. :p

And definitely in Ameesh's favor is the fact that he apologized. Something I don't see many men doing here at all, so that is really quite impressive, just makes me think he is a nice guy even more. :) And I can definitely see why people would ask questions, with the way Dennilfloss is still brought up, and rumours still abound about him. It is bound to make anyone curious.

And I do see 0Sullys point, he is right. The more people complain, the more attention it draws, negative attention that nobody needs. You have people jumping into an argument now, that weren't even around when it all went down. But some people just love to fight, and will do it even over topics they have no clue about. I don't think for a second 0sully was bashing anyone defending her, I think he was just saying let it go, and it will die down. I could be wrong, but thats the way I took it at least.

What's your reason for asking peoples reasons for posting? Is it a rhetorical question? Are you looking for people to say, "I'm just neffing." Do you really have an interest in their motives for posting in this thread? Are you trying to move the thread away from the topic: your page dedicated to WW? Are you just living up to your screen name?

I just find it rather odd.
