My mom just got an IBM X32 laptop (yay for her) which is surprisingly small and happens to come with firewire! While the laptop is fine, what isn't fine is the fact that the laptop came with XP SP2. I'm suppose to install some programs before she begins using the laptop and I swear to god I want to pull my hair out, working on XP is extremely painful ATM.
From that stupid security center, to the annoying change of icons and this 'limited connectivity ******', to the constant popups every time I install a new ****** program, this is driving me nuts! I only have XP on my desktop systems because of program compatibility, on my older laptops I run windows 2000 and it's a seemingly peaceful experience.
If there was one program I can think of that 2000 could use is the image 'slideshow/preview' equivalent that XP has, or something even better.
How can you guys stand the pain of using this OS? XP SP1 is so much less of an annoyance than SP2 it's incredible. Also, you guys wouldn't happen to know of ways I can reduce this insane memory usage would you? I'm using 256MB of ram just staring at a ****** desktop right now, this is compared to the 64MB my 2000 laptop uses which BTW I would like to know how I think durocshark reduced to 32MB. (PM ME PLZ)
