I just put my keyboard in the dishwasher... And it worked!

I spilled a Coke on my last bullet-proof IBM 101 clicker, and it shorted out the "B" and "M" key, I tossed it in the dishwasher, didn't fix it. 🙁

It WAS squeaky clean though. 😀

I've stuck keyboards in the dishwasher too... just let it sit for a week top side down and it'll be just fine. People that have keyboards malfunction after washing it probably plugged it hasn't completely dried, or forgot to unplug it when it was being washed.

number 1 way to clean a keyboard

step one: spill some coke on it
step two: spill some pepsi on it
step three: spill some mountain dew on it
step four: spill some mountain dew code red on it
step five: spill cooking oil on it
step six: stir fry
step seven: season with salt, sugar, pepper, garlic powder, curry powder
step eight: stir in water
step nine: be a retard and do what i just said 🙂

ugh you better take it completely apart and dry it. membrane keyboards have circuits between layers of plastic and will corrode away if you leave them wet for a day.

what you did was dumb, you should take it apart to clean only the parts that you need to.

If it is made by Microsoft, you can send it to them and get a replacement...seriously. A+ customer support and replacement

dishwasher? PFFT

i use a garden hose with a nozzle attatchment......there's nothing weirder to see neighbors/people driving by looking at you cause you're cleaning your keyboard with a hose

i would use a high pressure water source, but dad broke the pressure washer

<< Hahha, I spilled coke on my wireless Logitech keyboard, thank god it didn't get damaged....... 😱 >>

once upon a time, i had a cup of milk by my keyboard, and then the phone rang and i answered it. the phone was a cord phone so the cord knocked over the cup of milk and...well...a lot of it went into my key board 🙁 my brother flipped it over and drained out A LOT. after letting it dry for a few days, it still works! 🙂🙂 so now the keyboard works, and im using it right now, and we lived happily ever after.

the only time I had real trouble with a keyboard, I took it apart and cleaned it by hand. that worked, and it showed me why spilling coke on a keyboard 5 times is bad.

Of course it worked, there isn't any moving parts inside the keyboard circuitry itself, no ICs, capacitors, etc. Just a network of wires. I've done it multiple times and it always worked.

<< someone should invent spill-proof keyboard... >>

Closest thing I can think of is that custom made clear plastic sheet thingee that fits over the keyboard. Not too many people use those any more though. Probably because keyboards are so cheap nowadays.
