it's romanian.

Is the receiver stamped steel like the Hungarians? Were the original wood pieces laminated or solid? Do you have a 75 round drum for it? Now those are cool but heavy. Did you get all the accessories with it like the bayonet and such?

Hog hunting is a pretty good use for an AK but I would still use a .308 of some variation myself.

BTW, if you carry that gun out if the woods hog hunting the plastic stocks are better in my opinion since they don't stand out visually and so you don't damage the wood either.

stamped, no 75 rd drum, just 4 30 rounders. i bought it off a buddy of mine that moved to commiefornia for cheap., didn't come with anything other than the gun, 2 mags, one of those silly mag clamps, and a bipod.

honestly, I'm just not big on the wood. never have been. I think the gun has more of the communist controlled east german look to it. I'll be adding a POSP 4x24 to it soon as well.

I prefer the laminated stocks. They are a lot sturdier than the one piece wood like on mine. The laquer coating always gets me too as most look like they were dipped....it is soo darn thick.

They certainly aren't prone to cracking like hardwood.

I'd guess the extra thick laquer coating is applied to all their stocks with military handling in mind (lots of holding).

Is it a sporter model or does it still have the provision for a bayonet, if so you might want to get one just to have. If you ever decide to sell it the bayonet is a nice touch, plus the AK ones are actually really handy and the wire cutting feature works superb.

I have never had a scope an an AK. Keep us posted on how consistant it stays. Is the mount one that goes on the side of the receiver or do you replace the receiver cover?

this is a "post ban" model(2003) so it's a sporter. i've been going all over town trying to find someone that will thread the barrel for me so i can stick a FS on there.

not too too interested in the bayo, but i may check one out. i got some offers on some of my stocks for one.

scope mount is a side mount. the top mounts are flaky at best. i don't expect it to be overly accurate but give me better shots at 100 meters. the 4x24 scopes are built with a drop compensator for the 7.62x39 round so that may prove useful in the field. my aunt and uncle just bought 150 acres out in bastrop and i'm DYING to go hunting out there.

i had some pretty nasty trigger slap myself, I installed a tapco G2 dual hook FCG and i'm telling you man, it's like night and day with this rifle.

edit:
have fun with the shephard's pin.

If you want the barrel threaded I can ask my best friend. He has a machine shop. Not a gunsmithing shop but we do build a lot of guns. He is working on two Thompsons right now. He completely made the receivers from scratch. He has the tools and 40 years of experience.

Any specifics I need to know about what you need done? I will probably talk with him sometime tomorrow. I assume you want to put on an early type screw on muzzle brake or the like?

Is there enough margin on the end of your barrel for that? I think there is a spring loaded detent for keeping it on too? I cannot remember as I have not had an AK out in a super long time.

How much would a large sniper rifle like the awp in counter strike cost? Btw, i know sh1t about guns hence the stupid question

You have a PM too.

I miss the hell out of my Mini-14. I think I'll get another. Though not as 'sexy' as an AK or M-16/AR-15 it's accurate, and lightwieght.

Mini 14s are great guns. Light, accurate, and reliable. The use the same action as the M1 Garand and the M1 Carbine. I love mine.
