I NEED an AK.

No you don't. You already have better weapons. They are for first timers and people with out a lot of cash. It isn't that they are bad guns per se but there are just so many better guns out there to own. I have a beautiful SKS, very early production, and I hate the way it shoots too.

your extreme bias is hilarious. ever heard of "to each his own"?

by the way, I got rid of a VERY nice RRA M4gery to get this AK. the AK, in my eyes, is more fun to shoot. i hated shooting the AR.

It is not bias. I have been collecting guns for 30 years. AKs and SKSs are cheap toys in my opinion. Yes they are fun to shoot. Yes they are cool looking. Yes I own some of each. No I don't recommend them to people who want a serious gun. Sorry if you don't like the facts. I can have you talk to quite a few of my fellow gun collecting friends that would agree with me.

AKs and SKSs are popular for three simple reasons......they are ubiquitous in movies because EVERY communist country has used them for decades, they look COOL, and they are CHEAP to buy.

you're blatantly biased, and it shows.

it's accurate enough to kill what you're shooting at

you don't have to spend an arm and a leg to shoot it

it's FAR more reliable that you give it credit for. there's a reason why spec ops troops are dumping their M4s for AKs in the sandbox.

you're essentially insulting me based on my weapon choice, and i really don't appreciate it. get the hell out of my thread.

I'm not insulting anyone. I have some AKs. I never said they wouldn't kill a man at 100 yards. I know they are ROCK solid reliable even after you drop them in a mud puddle. I know all of these things, but somehow I doubt you are in combat or would take it deer hunting.

Fun to me when shooting is trimming rebar down at 100 yards open sights. Can you do that win an AK? I doubt it. I simply like to hit things smalller than a watermelon at 100 yards.

You never answered my question earlier either....is that a Maadi AK?

What kind of ammo do you use?

Out of the box .223 or .308 dpending upon which gun I am using. I had some great Israeli .308 ammo that was perfect for shooting tight groups, but you can accomplish it with just about any ammo if you have a gun that can shoot tight groups.

my idea of fun is shooting a hog and not having to chase after it after hitting it with a light ass bullet. like i said, to each his own.

it's romanian.

My idea of fun is hitting the hog on the first shot, not the 3rd mag...... 😛

when my dad was in Vietnam they would use the AK's they found instead of the m16's or whatever gun they had, since they could stand up to the ungodly hot weather and monsoon rain and all the unpleasantness they came in contact with. you get too much sand or dirt or water in the m16 and it was less useful than a BB gun

Umm, I can hit rebar at 100 yards open sights. 😀 My FN FAL has a match barrel and is one of the most accurate open sights shooter I have ever had. My buddy and I were using some bars with little insulators on top that hold electric cattle fence as targets. The plasic insulators are about the size of a silver dollar and easily seen at 100 yards. A couple of shots later no more insulators so we started shooting at the rebar, trimming it down. It became our new shooting game.

Is the receiver stamped steel like the Hungarians? Were the original wood pieces laminated or solid? Do you have a 75 round drum for it? Now those are cool but heavy. Did you get all the accessories with it like the bayonet and such?

Hog hunting is a pretty good use for an AK but I would still use a .308 of some variation myself.

BTW, if you carry that gun out if the woods hog hunting the plastic stocks are better in my opinion since they don't stand out visually and so you don't damage the wood either.

Stamped, laminated, and drenched in lacquer.

The AK-47 s thoug looks absolute kick ass in all black, most russian forces have black AK-47 s and some do have them with dark grey but still nice.

How much did it cost for the black set ?

I prefer the laminated stocks. They are a lot sturdier than the one piece wood like on mine. The laquer coating always gets me too as most look like they were dipped....it is soo darn thick.
