It wasn't directed at you the poster. It was directed at people who claim others are assholes when we respond to a thread such as this where a guy makes an OP with some claim that directly results from his weight.

So, yes it was a real fucking point. Don't want to be insulted, don't open yourself to be insulted.
 
oh man i live on mt dew, 4-5 cans gets me through the day

maybe ill cut back to 2 and see if i ca n still stay awake...

i lost 30lbs switching from mt dew to diet mt dew alone. i also stopped drinking it in warehouse sizes. im still at 320ish and 6'3", went from 245 to 350ish when wife left me.

Eat healthy, live healthy, DIE ANYWAY. Live your life the way you want. Let other people live life the way they want. "Being fat is disgusting!" So is farting, eating your boogers, and your dad screwing your mom. It's too bad we didn't prevent the latter from happening when you were conceived, then we wouldn't have to listen to you bitch about seeing fat people.

Seriously... a gram of protein and a gram of carbs has the same amount of calories. This isn't hard information to find, and yet with such a lack of knowledge you're giving other people advice. Eating less than what you burn is what works.

Wow...the nutritionist that helped my wife take off 75lbs in a year must be a quack then. We'll go tell him to surgically reattach the extra weight because his methods don't work. Thanks for Googling the correct info.
 
Weight loss is a lot simpler than people want to make it.

1) Eat less. You don't have to drastically change what you eat...just eat less of it.
2) Don't drink your calories. Drink water, black coffee, tea, diet soda if you need that sweet taste. Fruit juice is soda with vitamin C.
3) Get up and move from time to time. You don't have to be a gym rat, but have some sort of physical activity. Take the stairs, park farther away, go for a walk after work....Even burning an extra 50-100 calories a day adds up to tens of thousands per year.

That's it. Its really simple, it works for basically everyone, and unlike a fad diet, its sustainable.

Its not that changes in types of calories has no effect - its that changing the overall quanity of calories, regardless of type, has a much bigger impact.

I am directly responding to you as the poster who claimed that others were being assholes by responding to the OP in a disparaging way and increasing the scale to my answer to anyone who takes the side of the guy who made himself a target in the first place

I have the same worries when I date heavier guys. I actually prefer heavier and thicker guys in general, but then when it gets serious, I would want them to at least be at a healthy weight.

Wrong. Certain people get fat to the point of not really living life. I would say OP is pretty darned close to that extreme. Playing with kids becomes torture, walking in a store becomes to strenuous, etc.

And I am by no means a skinny healthy person, moreso a fatter somewhat healthy person, but I tend to notice a shortness of breath in doing some mundane things. I am fairly active, but not active enough. The OP, however, has reached the category of shortened life span with less life being lived because of his current condition. For him to see that, and want something different is a heckuva good start in my book.

Best of luck OP. Like everyone else has said, calories in < calories out. Throw in some walking 3-4 days a week and add to it as you feel more comfortable. As you progress, add more work, and cut a little more back from your diet. Eat smart, but give yourself a "reward" every now and again for a meal. IE - Lose five pounds, go enjoy a steak and baked potato with a couple beers. Just don't over do your rewards. Focus on a long term goal, and don't stress about it. Just cut back on your intake, and increase your exercise. Walking should be a good start for someone of your size.

Anybody who wants to lose weight should just eat clean protein and cut out all carbs. It is incredibly easy...

fat people do not die sooner and do not suffer from more health problems. also health problems don't exactly come from being fat or overweight, they come from poor diet and nutrition which just happens to go hand in hand with eating shit that will make you extremely fat.

..and incredibly unhealthy. Less carbs than the average person gets is good. No carbs is not good.

Humans were never meant to eat carbs. Fruit types... maybe. But we evolved to eat meat and pick off fruits here and there.
 
It's strange considering that we seem to be able to process carbohydrates extremely well

That's why we get fat... it is not really natural, so our bodies are so excited to have energy to store... it doesn't know there is so much of it around there is no need to store it.

to be clear though they are saying people that are like 10-15 lbs over weight do not die sooner. Most american's aren't just a few pounds overweight they are obese.
