I just made old-school Macaroni & Cheese

actually I made it about an hour ago. It is quite good.

I found the recipe in my old Casserole book from Better Homes & Gardens.

I slightly screwed up the cheese sauce, but still turned out nice. The slices of tomato add a pleasant taste to this dish.

The only thing I could add to make it better would be some bacon.

🙂

Mac and cheese does not have tomatoes. I don't know who got the idea of putting those filthy things in there, but mac and cheese is just that....macaroni....and cheese.

Yum! I have no idea how to make this but I'm gonna give it a go in the next couple of days. I love my mum's mac and cheese, I should email her and ask for the recipe.

Oh, and tomatoes are nasty 🙁

mm, i want to make meat and macaroni now...

or the frozen homemade soup from my mom...

or a big fat lasagna, i need to learn how to make it.

The last time I made mac and cheese, I put too many onions raw in there. Shoulda let them caramelize in a different pan, then put them in -_-.

As a growing bachelor, I realized cooking is fucking easy. To the noobs who never cook (like my former self), elaborate dishes looked very hard, but once you start to cook them yourself, you realize how easy it is.

Lasagna should be mad easy to make. I can think of the recipe off of my head:

1. Get 1lb ground beef, brown it (easy as heating it up on skillet until brown, then drain oil).
2. Dice up 2-3 cups of pepper, onion, zucchini, etc. then sautee & sweat them out on a skillet with little bit of olive oil.
3. Put canned (2-3) tomato sauce when the veggies are nicely caramelized. Let the sauce heat up then turn it off.
4. On the casserole dish, put a thin layer of sauce, then lasagna pasta, then meat, then ricotta cheese, then parm cheese. Repeat sequence 3-5 times until the dish is full. The final layer should finish with the sauce with extra parm on top for presentation.
5. Bake it at 350 degrees for 45 mins. I just go off and play warcraft during that time.
6. Serve!

Make that for your date/GF and win major points. Mad love if SHE doesn't cook and will think you are some master chef making a lasagna.

My gf had some people over the weekend tell her to marry me because I enjoy cooking :Q

Fuckin' A. My GF always tells me when I cook that I will be a great stay-at-home dad. This actually annoys me...

Don't forget to cook that lasagne pasta before you layer it - I know there's no-cook pasta but I don't like it. If I'm going to the trouble of making the stuff I want it to be great.

I use ricotta and mozzarella on the layers and parm on the top. You can do a lot with lasagne.

It sucks actually.
I always cook it 🙂

Sunday I had vegetarial lasagne... 😛
I put carrots on some layer and spinach on the others... really tasty! 🙂
You can try with asparagus as well.

Of course the real lasagna is made with gravy (tomato, sausage, garlic...) and white sauce (besciamella), I love it!!!

The pic looks like overcooked. 🙁 I hate soggy macaroni. It should be spongy and kick back in your mouth!
yeah, I slightly over cooked my pasta. But that is how I like it.

otherwise it was awesome.

I grew up on "homemade" Mac and Cheese made with Velveeta.

I was married before I had my first "Blue Box" (Kraft) macaroni and cheese.

My in-laws used to make it with "Government Cheese"... but since none of them qualify for that any longer (this was years ago) they now use American cheese they get from the deli... and serve it with Wonder Bread and Grape Jelly.

I like all 3. 🙂

Stir-ins I've tried: Bacon, ground beef, sloppy joe, chili, baked beans, chunks of ham, sliced hot dogs

lasagna is easy! i make it with 5 layers usually, let it cool overnight and serve it the next night as left overs on purpose. spinach manicotti is another of my fave homemade meals to cook as well.

Bestest mac-n-cheese

1) Soften half an onion in plenty of butter
2) In casserole dish add mostly cooked macaroni, onions, copious amounts of sharp cheddar cheese and a can of cream of tomato soup. Cover with more shredded cheese
3) Bake at 350 for about 45 minutes or until bubbly

Didn't you see Alton Brown's episode on Mac and Cheese?

I haven't but I use his recipe whenever I make baked Mac + Cheese and it gets nothing but compliments when I bring it to a party/gathering.
