My son has barely driven the car since he got it
10 months ago. He's got his permanent license, but no job to pay for the insurance for it. She's all cleaned up, lubed, full of gas and fresh oil change under a tarp in the garage. It only has fire coverage on it at the moment. When he gets a job, we'll put it on the road.
So, what's the history on your car, toph? Driven by an old lady to church on Sundays? How it was treated during those 140K miles will determine whether she burns much oil in the future. I second the suggestion to buy the
Service Manual. Helms is expensive, but it's REALLY handy. All the parts are shown with the Ford part number, so it's easy to check availability at the local dealer's parts department.
With that many miles, I wouldn't be racing it around too much. Once that engine or tranny is gone, it probably won't be worth fixing at that age. It's just too cheap to buy another with fewer miles. Does the A/C and other goodies still work on there?
