It hasn't been remedied. In addition to the other penalties, being married costs me thousands in extra taxes each year.
Congrats, OP. Another alternative for quickly finding an officiant is to have someone you know become a minister through the Universal Life Church. Dunno if it works in your state, but in CA, I was able to become a minister online and perform a marriage the next day.
