Hi all, I just got rear ended by a car today.
Just want your opinions on what would you do or what you think I should do.

I was driving back home from school. Then I see a school bus and the lights are flashing which means stop. So I come to a stop at the corner and next thing you know boom I was hit in the rear by another car.

There was a scratch along the bumper of my car and maybe some internal damage or maybe not. Overall I am ok, just shaken up.

Since it was a scratch on the car and I am fine should I do something?
I got his info, name, address, licence plate, phone number.

This is my first accident and not sure what to do.
The thing is I am ok with that scratch on the car, its just the fact that he hit me, that's what pisses me off.

he is 18 years old, lives in NYC.

Anyway Questions comments, please let me know what you would do because I am a noob when it comes to accidents.

Thanks

Edit
I do have insurance, I don't want to get them involved because even though it wasn't my fault my insurance will go up.

My car is a 2002 Toyota Camry he had a ~2002 BMW 525i

Lots of people think I should have gone the way of insurance but it was a 5 inch scratch and maybe some unknown damage done thats not visible. My opinion not worth waiting 2 hours for isurance agent to get there. So i drove off.

Do you think I should call him back and tell him to pay me something?

so you didn't report the accident to law officials and get an accident report?

No I didn't get an accident report done by the police. Now i think I should have. But maybe that also gets reported on something like carfax.com and maybe gets reported back to insurance company

Not necessarily. I would assume the party at fault, assuming they have insurance, would pay for the damages. This would relieve most of the costs from your insurance so I see no need for them to raise your rates.

since there is no police report it is now all up to him beyond honest if you want to get anything fixed. also your insurance will not go up if it is not your fault.

I don't think anything gets reported to carfax. Carfax is just a service that retrieves information from other agencies, such as the DMV, that keep data on cars and their histories. Can anyone confirm this?

If you wanted payment, you should've followed the proper procedure. You're probably screwed now, and rightly so.
