I was on the phone getting a manufacturer's number and the girl called me ma'am. I have a deep voice too. :|

You mean, ma'am? 😛

heh. Maybe she's been on the phone w/women all day and it just came out naturally, without thinking.

Ooooh...you did it in person? Ouch. 😀

I used to get called ma'am sometimes on the phone, even though my voice was fairly deep. These days I'm never mistaken for one.

my buddy once called a manly looking state police officer sir when she had pulled us over....wow was she pissed 🙂

Yikes. A friend introduced me to her sister at a club one night, but her sister looks and dresses very, very, very, very much like a boy. In fact, I'd seen her at the club quite a few times, and always thought she was a guy. So when my friend introduced us, I gave her the three point shake and said "What's up, man?" But the girly voice combined with the delicately soft handshake clued me in, and there was much embarassment to be had.

Thankfully, she didn't hear the "man", and I'm good at hiding embarassment. Nice girl, though. 😛

WTF is ma'am an acronym for? Madam? Thats a piss poor acronym. I move to strike the word from the english language.

I've never had that problem 🙂 Of course, having a beard and an extremely deep voice kind of makes it difficult to be mistaken for a woman 😉
