i have been having leg pains while running for a while and i finally had x-rays and a bone scan done to figure out what was wrong. the doctor says there is a small tumor in my right leg, and they are not sure if it is benign or malignant. they say i will have to come in tomorrow for some more tests to figure out just what kind of tumor it is. this sucks.

***UPDATE***

its benign. thank god. i will be having surgery to remove it in 1 week. this has kind of made me realize how lucky i am. thanks to all for the positive replies and support.

best of luck

yeah i think i can kiss this XC season goodbye. 🙁🙁🙁 all that training.....

but im mainly worried about the tumor being cancerous. if it isnt, then i can worry about XC. god i hope this isnt cancerous, im only 19. im so worried.

Man, that makes any problems I have seem pretty damn petty. I'm certainly hoping for the best for you.

Hey, I was going to tell you before, but it might help cheer you up to tell you now. I got my son that PC for his graduation gift. Would you believe it's got an AMD in it? Hah, first one that's been in this house in many years! I bought it with confidence after hearing your opinion, as well as others. Thanks for that, and GOOD LUCK!

Prayers will be out to you

i don't know what kind of scan you've had already...but you would need a biopsy for a definitive diagnosis. either that or the radiologist is confident it's a benign mass

Nick -

Just a word of advice. As hard as it will be, try not to worry about whether it's cancerous or not. It may turn out to be benign, a simple cyst, or any number of things. My point is try not to worry yourself sick hoping it's not the worst. It's there, and you will have to deal with it, but until you find out what it is, try to put it out of your mind as much as you can. There are a number of things it could be, and even if it turns out the be the big "C", you are young and as someone else said, it's in a very treatable area.

I know it's much easier said than done, but try to keep your spirits up as worrying 24/7 until you find out will do you no good. I'm sure everything will turn out ok.

Keep your chin up..🙂
