We don't use it often but we also use it to make chili. It's supposed to be bit chilly tomorrow morning so I'm making breakfast chili with some leftover smoked brisket from the freezer. I just plugged in the slow cooker so the brisket chili should be waiting for me when I wake up in the morning.
That is the best way to use a slow cooker. Take 6 to 8 hours to cook it while you are busy with other things like work or sleeping.

Fill it with three parts vegetables to one part meat, your choice, and eat whatever comes out.

Eventually you'll figure out the rest.

Tofu should never be slow cooked since it is already cooked.
Really? Who eats Tofu by itself, plain? As far as I know Tofu is always "cooked" with other ingredients to make good tasting meals.

I plan on putting a Tofurky roast with some veggies in my slow cooker to try it out.

As much as I appreciate and agree with the sentiment, VL is trying not to die.
I certainly hope not. Here is one tip for Larry, put the roast or brisket fat side up, that way as the fat melts it covers and soaks the meat giving it flavor and moistness. And yes get the meats with good layer of fat on one side, otherwise it would be rather dry and flavorless.

shorty,

I wouldn't call that really living. That's warm water lobster tail. If you don't eat much lobster, you probably wouldn't know the difference. But people who like food and lobster know cold water lobster tail is sweeter and tastier than warm water. I won't buy or order warm water lobster. And I don't have to say anything about the tenderloin. I'll eat it but I don't go out of my way to buy or order it. There are much better tasting beef cuts than tenderloin.

Tofus is usually cooked in soup, stir fried, pan fried. Not really slow cooked.

Well I do prefer to use a slow cooker since it is pretty much "fire and forget" and it no fuss no mess as well. You just put the food in, add a little water or broth, and go away until the food is done. Can't get any simpler then that. The only real downside to using a crockpot is the longgg cooking time.

There are things that work in slow cooker, root veggies for example. Not tofu.

Well, I'm not a fan of tofu myself. Plus, they say men eating soy protein gives you boobs.

When I think of slow cooker, I think of pot roast. And I dislike typical pot roast. So bland and boring.

You have to know how to cook if you want to like and use tofu. People who enjoy slow cooker pot roast generally can't cook so they shouldn't touch tofu.

And yet Asians have been eating soy protein for what, 1000's of years now. How many Asian men have you seen with "Man Boobs"?

I think I would be fine slow cooking a Tofurky roast as long as I do it right, like fully baste it before hand. I might use my oven instead since it is now getting cold out.

Tofurky? Sorry, no fake turkey can be good. Especially fake turkey made from tofu.

Tofurkey roast is more seitan (wheat gluten) than tofu so it's probably okay to slow cook, though I've never slow cooked either tofu or seitan. I've smoked seitan, though, and it turns out great. I'd want to fry tofu before using it in a slow cooker.
