I bought several huts in Ethiopia for $1.34 four months ago, I have not seen them yet.

By making monthly payments on time...lol
For now my dad is going to be helping me make the mortgage, until I no longer have to pay tuition and be some what on stronger feet.

This is going to turn out to be an epic thread. It's going to deliver.

It's got international tax law involved, it's got a guy sending and signing documents not read, it's got fraud, it's got a new found character in "my dad", it has an audience with the student loan thing.

It's gonna deliver.

A US bank loaned money for an international property, and in Casablanca no less?
What kind of bank gives out money without due diligence, especially if the money are secured by an international property in a THIRD WORLD country. Well, maybe Societe Generale does, but seriously?

A purchase like that would set off all kinds of tax fraud alarms/Sarbanes Oxley act directives/whatever.

Good luck with the IRS as well.

I think it was a bank in morocco, not the US.

shouldn't he always be paying for some/all of it, after all he is the one living there (I'm assuming you are staying in the USA?) How come your parents don't have good enough credit to buy their own, if they use a "credit-system" in Morocco, especially since their income is enough to pay for it for now?

Maybe in other countries you can.

have either of you ever lived in a city with a population greater than 10,000?

doesn't sound like it.

Do you really think that all those people living on 5th avenue rent?

you should have gotten a 1 room apartment and have your parents sleep on the floor beside the bed you are sleeping on. Ain't that how you folks do it?

I will not be living in there except when I go on vacation.

hey, My GF and I are planning on visiting Casablanca in the summer. can we crash your place?
that is if it hasn't been confiscated by the FBI or the secret service....or whoever it is that regulates international fraud.

Mydad is has left back home in 04 and lives in FL now, he does whatever floats his boat with fellow Moroccans in Orlando, and cooks at a friends Italian restaurant (My dad never even made it thru Junior High ...lol ... thats maybe why) . He plans on moving back soon tho, but not back to his profession... not really sure what his plans are.

My initial reaction says this is a good idea. Your parents can live in the place while they take care of it. It could be a great investment. There are definitely places in the world I wish I had relatives in where I could purchase real estate and have them take care of it.

maybe he's warming up for a Presidential Run.

there's 2 kind of fraud - fraud that involves physically
hurting people (e.g. Clinton & Bush's lies preceding
military action in Iraq), and fraud that involves taking
people's money (which can also physically hurt people).

having experienced both & witnessed both, i would
say it's an important distinction.

pictures ? (of the apartment ?) is it near the ocean ?

I like Casa. Been there twice on business and stayed near the old Medina where the Hyatt and Royale Mansour is.

Congrats.

Oh and Marrakech is great.
