I haven't watched TV in years.

I didn't even start this thread! Though I should probably mention I haven't had a TV since 1992.

I don't think that article is as meaningful as it was when first written because television doesn't really exist as a separate category of thing these days. It's normal to not have a conventional television. Younger people at least don't consume content in the same way, but the same stuff gets viewed, one way or another.

These days the guy would have to constantly mention that he's not on Facebook. It's hard to keep up.

I don't watch anything but football on TV so we don't get cable. Last week our internet was down and I needed to see the weather to see if i was gonna work. I put the news on some subchannel local news thing that looped every 30 minutes. I felt like I was watching something put together by an ADHD 7th grader.

Can't relate to people who aren't up to date on current world and local events. I watch local/national news, sports and maybe a couple of shows. I find it hard to have a conversation with people who aren't aware of what's going on in the world and also of what surrounds them locally on a daily basis, unless it's about philosophy, history or something along those lines. Of course with the internet these days, if something world wide is going on you'll find out eventually. To each his own I suppose.

News need not come from tv. I listen to news on radio for example.

Well everyone should watch FOX news, it's the most accurate unbiased news in the world. So is CNN, that is also the most unbiased accurate news I have ever seen. Or there is also Facebook, everything on there is real news and not fake.

I found TV to be about the worst media available to enlighten one's self about current events. Lazy, sensationalist nonsense is the best one can expect from televison reporting. At the worst, deliberate lies repeated by shrieking bimbos and douchebags.

I must agree with you, but you have to start somewhere.

I watch TV (never live except for sports) all the time and love it - there's some immensely great shows on nowadays.. Good way to wind down the day for me.
I've always been a pop-culture fan.
