Do NOT watch the 3rd without the 2nd one. period

I also think the 2nd was superior to the 3rd and wonder how anybody can feel otherwise. Really the only thing I didn't like in the 2nd one was Rachel. In the 3rd one I didn't like any part of when Gotham was taken over, or Bane's voice, and felt they did a terrible job pacing the comparatively large amount of time that is supposed to elapse during the 3rd one.

Yeah I'm a huge fan of Christopher Nolan and Tom Hardy, but the 3rd one really was just average, and a bit too long. Even the action scenes felt clunky and poorly executed without much visceral impact.

Not only that but it's worlds better then TDK and should at least be seen before TDKR.

agreed

Definitely. I liked TDKR better than TDK, but Begins is basically on a whole different level than either.

I dislike TDK for the same reasons that everyone does: the over-drawn mess that was the Harvey Dent storyline, crammed into the plot--but I still prefer it to TDKR. Why? For these types of movies, the villain is everything. That Joker was simply amazing. Bain, on the rare occasions that I could understand wtf he was saying, left me mostly unimpressed.

I'm probably also unique in that I don't think the turn towards ultra realism in these super hero movies is a good thing. In a way--it works with Batman because he never had super power, so I can get that, but I miss the fantasy aspects you tend to expect with these stories and especially the villains.

TDKR is a very different movie from TDK, as it is from Batman Begins.

Definitely engrossed me, and Anne Hathaway is hot...mm mmm

Really? Batman Begins was epic at the time, because no one had done a 'darker' superhero movie like that [that didn't suck ass]. After TDK...it just seemed so...basic. Still great, but so outdone by its successor.

I can see the argument between the latter two films...I think it's just personal preference. I liked the way TDKR progressed. I fuckin' loved Bane, voice and all.

It may have been expectations-related...I generally heard that it was a) unrelentingly dark and b) not as good as the previous film.

But when I saw it, I was baffled by both of those. It was no darker than TDK, and I thought it just had a better flow, with all of the little parts being cool on their own, but coming together to form a great conclusion to the trilogy.

I can see that, but I think it really just comes down to preference. The Joker seemed a little too over the top for me, but that was also kind of the point of the character.

I think you guys need to understand though, when I'm trying to talk about which of these three movies is the best, it's honestly by pretty slim margins. I prefer the pacing and cinematography, acting, plot and direction of Begins, I prefer the pacing, story line and methodical-ness of Bane in TDKR, but I don't mean to say TDK is a terrible movie by any stretch of the imagination. I think it's a little long and unnecessarily overly complicated plot-wise, but if I were going to rate these from 1 to 10, Begins would get like a 9, TDKR a 8 and TDK a 7.5. I do believe all three are excellent movies.
