that parts of it are some of the most isolated pockets of humanity on earth isn't a particularly touristic quality.

But the Opera House, botanical gardens, market on the Rocks, QVB, and Darling Harbour make up for it :)

If you live in the States I don't see why you would.

I have heard that in a few years you will need a passport to fly, and not just outside the country.

Thailand. As a 20 year old girl you'll have a blast and there are many other solo female travelers to meet up with. Many of my friends over there were afraid to travel alone until I convinced them it was an extremely safe country and they all had a great time. Tons of big parties with lots of young people and whatnot, and you could go on a real adventure if you got bored with all of the white people (northeastern Cambodia, northern Vietnam, etc.). Can't say the same for Europe or Australia where really it is a lot like America.

I should just get a world map and blindfold myself and throw a dart then? haha

since you've never been outside the US, you may want to start off easy by going to Canada or UK (London is cool, Dublin is fun), most people in the EU speak English but signs can be tricky in counties that use different alphabets like Greece, Germany, Turkey, and former eastern block states.

Maybe I'll just save up for Spain. The thing is, I have to pick some friends to go with. Some have been to Spain already. We'll see what I can do. We are looking to have some fun, go out to parties at night and sight-seeing during the day. We'll see what we can come up with. Thanks for the help!

Spain's a fun place! Madrid & Barcelona =

You will have to use your Spanish skills though! Few speak English and if they do it's only small amounts. Just know it's going to be a somewhat different dialect. I don't really know the differences (don't speak it) but to me they speak a lot faster in normal conversations than those on the American continents.

I know this one isn't out of the continent or whatever but what about Cancun, Mexico? Or Cabo, Mexico?

When I was younger, the only two countries out of the US that I would have no problems sending my daughter's would be the Vatican City and Japan.

Try Japan.

Oh.. and don't listen to your parents :p They are overprotective when it comes to travel (this is a universal fact for women). Like you literally have to ignore any travel advice they give you.. you wouldn't believe what I've heard from girls and the advice they get from their parents on places. Useless.

I am either going to angkor wat or medjugorje for this coming spring break, but may end up saving the money to put towards world youth day, but Angkor Wat tops my list at the moment.
