Here is your fix to the call quality issue that some people seem to have.

##7764726 (##PROGRAM)
CALL Button
Enter SPC Password - 000000
VERIFY
04 Vocode
Select EVRC-B

This fixes the sound quality issue (assuming your problem isn't related to something else).

This actually takes you to the PROGRAM menu and you will be able to switch back and forth between 13k, EVRC and EVRC-B. So you aren't making a chance to your phone that you can't reverse. The phone will reboot after you make the change.

I'm not having any issues with call quality, but I went ahead and made that change just for the hell of it. Mine was indeed set to EVRC - the older tech.
tried that, it seems to help, but girlfriend still complains.

Have you tried a new girlfriend? :D

Seriously though, I did the mentioned programming and I really didn't notice a difference in call quality unfortunately. It's not bad at all but I wouldn't mind it being a little clearer for some people I call. I'd assume it's area specific (like everything else related to cell phones). *Shrug*

I've had the Droid since launch and it took me about two full weeks to get used to the physical keyboard, aside from that, it is the best gadget I've ever used. I'm running the Sholes.Info rom with multi-touch, Voice keyboard (from nexus), 2.1 music app, 2.1 gallery app, 2.1 launcher (homescreen) rooted.

I'm also running sholes.info, its nice, but the Launcher homescreen makes the entire phone slow to a crawl for me, so I went back to the regular homescreen. I'll use Launcher once there's an official version of it from Motorola to work with.

Yah the first Sholes ROM I used I went with the 5 homescreen "standard" home but I thought I'd check out the 2.1 one, It looks cooler but is less functional due to the speed as you mentioned.
