Ever have negative money? Chits depressing

Yep, After I bought my house and went several grand over budget on renovations. I ended up taking a Citi loan at like 23% LOL. Was maxed out in credit considering I had just bought a house so could not take a regular bank loan. That was considered a good interest rate because my credit rating was somehow still good. The norm was like 29%. That was scary. The interest was more than the principal when making payments. I had a bunch of money coming though so I knew it would get paid off by then but it's always nerve wracking having an active debt like that. Still had to pay for my furniture too. Had 18 months but it was still a lingering debt that I had to worry about.

They call me every now and then to see if I want to take another loan. No thanks. I was stuck that time. :p

So glad that I'm over all that now. I just need to be more diligent and stop spending money on toys and keeping more in savings.

Who the heck lends $$ at 29%???

Losers.

Citi financial. :p Basically a shark loan. "Bank wont give you money? We will!" I can't remember the exact numbers though, maybe it was 19% and I got 12% or something, I just know their regular rate was whatever the highest legal is, and then I got a couple notches down.

Payday loan places in Arizona were loaning at 400% interest rates until a voter initiative capped their rates. They respawned as title loan places at 400% interest rates. The big banks back the title loan places because the money is too good to pass up.

More to my liking.:D

Many years ago a regional bank backed a new loan company with multiple branches. IIRC, the loan companies accounted for more than 20% of their total profits with a fraction of $$ lent out.

I was there with medical bills at one point. That was a rough, depressing patch. I had to hit up places like Lending Club and managed to get 15%, but yeah, I was in major depression for a long time because I was making decent money yet had to rob Peter to pay Paul. We almost sold our house and moved into an apartment. Things got 1000% better last year as we struggled through it, and this year was probably the best year I've had in two decades.

The moral of the story is: do what you have to do and things will get better.

This is an odd time of year to complain about not being able to make money. There were tons of stores and shipping companies who had open temporary job slots available for the entire month of December.

ya I mentioned that earlier. Temping weekends in NYC is something I did when i lived there occasionally to get a little ahead or when I was performing and wanted cash.

If I still lived in NYC I would take you out for some Grays Papaya by my old apartment OP.

I was like you last week but now I'm set. When you're out of money, there's an easy remedy, go to the bank and take some more out. That's what I did and now I have money in hand.

That's a great idea. Give me access to your bank account.

Trying to go on a diet in December is like trying to save money in December. It is not going to happen !

I have a friend who is remarkably intelligent and hard working. She graduated from one of the most prestigious universities in the nation with a triple major in four years. When she was between jobs, she didn't sit on her butt and complain about being poor or waste her time trolling internet forums hoping for hand outs. She got a job sweeping the floors at a bottling plant. I always admired her work ethic.
