I seriously considered a Jetta last year when I was shopping for cars because they rode & handeled very well, but the reliability factor scared me off... I too have heard many horror stories about myriad problems with them & their frequency-or-repair stats are not good at all.

my co-worker has a 2003 gti. quick little thing, but damn if he hasnt already invested some good time and money taking it in for various electrical issues. lease is almost up though and i think he's done with vw as he's eyeing lexus next.

I just checked, and I must say that vw probably has the BEST website of any auto manufacturer I've ever seen. Very well done.

Are you kidding? It's out of date (doesn't even show the new GTi), and their configurator sucks (Honda's got the best configurator EVER - you can see exactly what your car will look liek with the options you want).
