Just start sniffing them. People will think you're a weirdo, and start leaving just to get away from you! :awe:

To be fair, it's not just womens' clothing - as a fatass with big shoulders, I run between a Large and a XXL depending on the brand and cut I'm wearing.

I hate buying shirts. As long as pants aren't "skinny jeans" or anything silly like that, I can usually just buy the same size and be fine. However, I almost always have to try on shirts and bounce between sizes depending on brand. Although, I normally only go between two sizes.

My other complaint? What's with the lack of tall sizes? If I don't buy tall dress shirts, I have to either turn my belt into a groin girdle (i.e. it's not pleasant) or constantly ensure my shirt is still tucked in. The only other downside is that if I find a tall shirt, it's usually 1/3 more expensive than the "normal" sizes, which sometimes include sizes up to XXL. My LT size probably even uses less fabric than XXL, but it costs more. :\

Hah.

But seriously, women's clothing size are on crack. My housemate is skinny as fuck, and she's anywhere from a childs' medium to a womens' large depending on the brand, style, and type of clothing she's buying.

To be fair, it's not just womens' clothing - as a fatass with big shoulders, I run between a Large and a XXL depending on the brand and cut I'm wearing. Don't even get me started on what a 38" waist means to different tailors. But the gamut seems to be worse for womens' clothing.

38" waist means 38". I've not seen men's clothes differentiate much when labeled like that. Stuff that is labeled in Large, Medium, etc can differ some. Men's dress shirts are a pain in the ass as well. Having large shoulders, chest and neck, but a smaller waist makes it hard to find decent fitting stuff. I have to buy shirts that are silly like 17' neck slmi fit. Otherwise, I get a ton of extra fabric around the stomach.

Women's sizes, on the other hand, mean something different for every brand. It is beyond fucking stupid. Although, I imagine it is great marketing now. Women can't particularly shop online, as they have to try on the item to make sure it is actually their size. Men, on the other hand, know when they buy a 36, it is going to be roughly 36 inches. Although, I'd imagine it is similar to a 2x4: not actually 2" x 4"...

I have several pairs of 38" jeans that fit fine. Sometimes I need a 40" depending on how the butt is cut. I'm working on that.

But the pants I'm wearing right now, while also supposedly 38", have enough extra room in the hips to smuggle a thanksgiving turkey, and about 4" of extra waistband.

Could be a manufacturing error I suppose. But this isn't the first pair I've had like that. Moral of the story: try before you buy.

Long lines used to be the biggest problem at Walmart. That problem has not been reduced, but they have created an even bigger problem. Out of stock. I don't go to Walmart much anymore and am invariably disappointed the rare occasion I do go

In my experience at the low ranges they tend to be more accurate, but once you get into 34+ they start under stating the size.

Depends on the Walmart and the time. I generally avoid going to them especially for clothes, but if I need to grab something cheap and I know the time of day will allow short lines I'll go.

Flip on the video recorder if you have one on your device and post it. Shouldn't be that many privacy issues with it I think.

Is there any information on the pants in question? For example, Haggar has pants with a stretch band in them. While they are x size, they're supposedly able to add two extra inches if need be. Also, Old Navy has casual fits that I've found are more like x+1".

..to return women's underwear. :\

old lady picked up the wrong size. this feels sooo awkward. gah, fml.

I waited 20 minutes to pick up something I bought online. Worst decision ever. I should have paid the extra 2 bucks to buy it from Target. Never again.

I just grabbed the first image I saw on google. There's tons of images/information on how stores understate the actual size of clothes out there.

Fuck H&M. Bought pair of 30 waist slacks of theirs online. It was like a size 26.

I'm going to guess they were really 31's and you were actually 35. Even buying in the actual 26-28 range I've never run into mens clothes that were overrated on size.

I'd imagine because he bought them too big.

Like I said might be a bit of payback :)

Are you married or ever made a mistake about you're wifes butt size?

():)

Pretty sure he bought them for himself and screwed up on the male->female size conversion :p This is all just an elaborate cover to convince himself otherwise.

Oh, waiting in line for 20 minutes sounds like an awesome experience to me. Not sure why people would want to avoid it.

Yea, the one in Laurel, MD horrendous lines all day otherwise it's pretty decent actually, but really I'll just go and spend a few extra pennies at Target and save myself the hassle.

The walmart in Columbia though... is a disgusting mess that's just straight up dirty all the time. Sometimes the lines are brutal too. Again Target right across the street...

There isn't a Walmart anywhere near Silver Spring that I'm aware, and I don't really miss it.

Walmart is going the way of Kmart.

Really? Because it's the largest employer and largest retailer (largest grocer, largest distributor of music, etc.) in the United States (largest economy in the world, 70% of which is consumer spending.) And they're making money hand over fist.

Or do you just mean they're lowering the standards of service and letting their crappy stores go from slightly disorganized to downright filthy? Because that's been going on for years.

Five straight quarters of decling sales. Foot traffic down too. They just fired their US CEO

The overall store experience, while never great, has really gone downhill even more. The empty shelves.. sometimes the same empty shelves for weeks. On and on. It really paints a sorry picture now. Plus you have nearby stores beating it on price, with much better organized stores

The problem with a lot of women's underwear is you can't repurpose them into a rag or something since they aren't always cotton. I'd never wait 20 minutes in line to return cotton underwear, I can always use a rag around the house and a spare 20 minutes of my life.

I went today to pick up a couple things. It really was a shitty experience. The stereotypical image painted here of straight trash filling the store is 100 percent true. I can't even remember how many assholes cut me off with their carts without even so much as an excuse me. Also fucking idiots flying through the parking lot in their cars with a car full of kids aboard. The employee that checked me out seemed nice enough but the trash that shops there definitely ruins any deals you get.

There's a lot of things (like underwear) that you can't really get anywhere else. I really can't think of any other place here I could go if I wanted to buy that. Maybe Sears? I guess for woman's underwear there would be La Senza but for men's... no idea. Maybe a side shelf at a suit store or something like that might sell it.

I always found it ironic how Americans hate Walmart so much. It is the perfect example of what capitalism is, and Americans seem to really like capitalism. I don't like the "evil" behind walmart like how they barely pay their employees and stuff, but that really goes for pretty much any major store so can't really point the finger at Walmart for that.
