There's a lot of things (like underwear) that you can't really get anywhere else. I really can't think of any other place here I could go if I wanted to buy that. Maybe Sears?
You can't think of any other place beside Walmart and _maybe_ Sears where you can buy men's underwear?

What???

Am I missing something here?

Well there used to be Zellers but that's gone. I'm sure there's other places but off the top of my head I would not know for sure that they carry that item. Just using that as an example too, there are lot of other oddball items like bed spreads that Walmart has. Walmart is one of the few places that you know you'll be able to find those oddball items without doing guess work and driving all over town.

The wal-marts where I live are first rate. It's not even in my top 5 of where I see the most trash.

What "oddball" item is that again? Undershorts?

You cannot be serious. Have you never shopped for men's clothing? Does your mother still buy all your underwear for you?

Unbelievable.

There's a lot of things (like underwear) that you can't really get anywhere else. I really can't think of any other place here I could go if I wanted to buy that. Maybe Sears? I guess for woman's underwear there would be La Senza but for men's... no idea. Maybe a side shelf at a suit store or something like that might sell it.

Within walking distance of my home, I can purchase men's underwear at:

Marshall's
Kohl's
Costco
Sears
Macy's
JC Penny
Sam's Club
Burlington Coat Factory

...and if I really want to risk it, Savers

Driving a couple miles adds a Target and a WalMart, a Military Surplus store, and a Goodwill. I can get hockey pads, bicycle shorts, and various protective undergarments at two stores within three miles.

If I were female there's be another dozen+ boutiques and womens' clothing stores in the same area.

So where the hell do you live?

Don't have any of those here except for Sears which I mentioned. Only ones in that list I've heard of are Costco (there is one in Sudbury 3 hours south from here) and Sears.

There used to be Zellers but that closed. There was rumors we'd be getting Target here though but that's just a rumor. Come to think of it there's a new store called Urban Planet that probably would have it too. But again, I was just using that an an example. There's lot of oddball houseware type stuff you can only really get at walmart, and maybe Sears and a few other places, but Walmart is pretty much the first thing that comes to mind for that kind of stuff as you KNOW they'll have it, the other places it's usually a maybe. If there's one thing Walmart wins at is the very large selection. Especially now that they added the grocery section. When you need a bunch of different stuff like groceries, pet stuff and stuff around the house Walmart is the only place where you can buy all of those in one go.

Don't knock it - they're great for soaking up blood and the self-adhesive ones can be really useful for...

... dinner napkins. You just peel off the adhesive, slap that thing on the outside of your forearm and then chow down like a pig, wiping your face with the back of your arm like a civilized caveman.

Right?

Christ, man, are you in, like, Timmins?

Unrelated note: what's the camping like in all those Provincial parks around that area? I've been wanting to get some tent time in somewhere with pine trees.

You might want to consider somewhere where the pine trees are larger than the flies. :)

Never been to the organized campground or park places too many times but we used to camp at this pretty awesome place which is on crown land. The MNR enacted a 21 day camping limit on crown land (most retarded thing ever) so everyone moved to a cottage that one of my uncle and aunt bought. Have not been out in a long time though. Nobody seems to go anymore.

The nice thing with cottages here is you're actually in the bush, there's no utilities or traffic or anything. We recently rented a vacation "cottage" down south but it was basically in the middle of town on a public beach. Decent vacation, but not my idea of camping.

Oh and pine tree branches make freaking awesome fires. We'd go collect some in the bush (the dead ones are the best), stack them and throw it on top of the fire. It's better than gas!

Interestingly enough, I spent 10 minutes in the drive-thru at Taco Bell for supper today, but it only took 9 minutes for me to vacate my bowels after eating their delicacies.

Shoulda known better .... but at least I did not have womens undergarments to deal with. French cut for teh winz !!

I'm surprised you could even read a clock with your bowels churning at warp speed.
