I've been rear-ended more times than I can count (once by a cop

) but I've only ever been in one serious accident.
it was quasi-my fault... I was at a blind intersection, trying to go straight, and I had a stop sign.
I was slowly inching out into the road to see on-coming traffic, and I got to a point where I was already half-way into the intersection. I figured that the only way for a car coming from the left to swerve around me would be by going into the left lane, and what jackass would do that?
so, seeing the nearest car a decent clip away from me, I gunned it to get through the intersection... and of course, he swerved to hit me and clipped my car near the gas tank, shattering my rear axle.
it was repairable, but it would have cost more than that POS car was worth.
upsides:
-the other driver didn't have insurance, so even though it was my fault, my premiums were never affected (and no point in filing a claim on a car headed to the scrap yard)
-the force of the impact actually fixed a back problem I had been experiencing for months... prior to the accident, I'd been waking up with back pain every night. I slept like a baby afterward.
