you're not dying, suck it up and buy a wig.

if Tina Turner can go through life under a wig, so can you.

MrsBugi, my cousin has that. I have a very small form of it on my head that I hide through tricks I've learned in hairstyles. She's 20 years old, she was diagnosed I think 5 years ago. Not to sound mean, but her parents never took her to see a therapist and as a result, has a felony conviction and is pregnant with a son, and she can't even see the father (due to his felony convictions and her being on probation). She used to be such a sweet girl..and after she lost her hair she sort of lost her mind.

Hair is just hair; it's not what's on the outside that counts but the inside, and anyone who tells you differently can go proper fuck themselves off into the sunset. While it might seem harsh, it would be a really good idea to see a therapist just to talk about it with someone who has an objective view; sometimes just talking to your friends isn't enough. I wish I had been there for my cousin though :(

Thank you for sharing your cousin's experience and for your caring post, I really appreciate it. I'm so sorry to hear about what happened with your cousin, I wish that her parents had encouraged her to seek therapy or to participate in a support group. :( Such a tragedy and an extreme example of how much people can be affected by something like this not only physically but psychologically. I have a therapist and she has been a very helpful third-party viewpoint in addition to loving friends and family.

Hair is really just hair and it's definitely what's on the inside that counts. I had my good and bad days like everyone else but this has really inspired me to try and be proactive about spreading knowledge of this condition. I'm brainstorming ideas for writing a children's book about alopecia (children are affected by it as well and if some adults can be mean, sadly kids can be even meaner) that will hopefully spread knowledge and comfort.

Hi, I have been diagnose with with Diffuse Alopecia Areata. I have a question for you guys. Do you experience scalp itching? I experience that all the time which is kinda frustrating, and to make it worse, I am allergic to topical steriod, so I can't use that to curb the itching.
