I have an Ipod Nano, but all my music is WMA

What do I do?

I like the ipod's somewhat slick interface (although locating the song you want is time consuming and difficult) but I don't want to give up WMA.

Is there maybe a firmware flash or something that will enable it to play WMA?

Just put your music in Itunes which will convert it to mp4, i think it is. Save a copy of your music elsewhere too. That way you can have both formats.

iTunes will convert WMA's without copy protection into mp3/ACC. So just put them into iTunes and let it do it's thing!

P.S. - Any reason why you ripped to WMA in the first place?

I rip to WMA because they have the best lossless format, IMO. All my music is lossless.

And I know that itunes will convert all my songs, I did it a few months ago before I reformated. It takes forever and I hate itunes.

Is there a player that's similar in size from another manufacturer?

What's this linux for ipods business?

Apple lossless is superb quality, however you will want more than a nano to get a serious amount of music on the move.

Well I sent my nano off to this place to get the flash memory replaced with higher capacity chips. So I've got 10 gigs to play with now.

But I'm still not reripping all my music.

LOL! My thoughts exactly.

Why rip to a proprietary format?

Hindsight is 20/20 though. iTunes converts it for you.

As opposed to ripping them into AAC, which is a proprietory format....?

Actually, AAC is a standard format. It's just that the Apple encryption isn't.

I haven't actually used my ipod in like 2 months. I really only got it because everyone else had one.

It'd be nice if I could put some more music on it without installing itunes again though.

You could easily argue that WMA is also a standard format, given that other programs apart from WMP can encode/decode the files.

And a fair number of things support it (my iRiver mp3 player did, my Philips mp3 player does, and my Panasonic stereo does too).

OGG is eleventy billion X better than WMA IMO. Convert one song from WAV (CD rip) into two files, one file being WMA 64kbps and an OGG file at Quality 1, then compare. The OGG file will be smaller and sound SIGNIFICANTLY better.

Seriously... if you have an 10GB ipod nano and don't use it or want to upgrade to a Creative Zen (or other player) that supports WMA... let me know if you want to sell it.

Why would anyone convert to 64k WMA nowdays? 128k WMA will sound as good as 256k MP3 at half the size. Besides, OGG, no matter how good it is, does not have a future. Other then a handful, no MP3 player OEM wants to mess with it.

Why not compare lossless WMA to lossless OGG? OGG is lossless, right?
