And I know that itunes will convert all my songs, I did it a few months ago before I reformated. It takes forever and I hate itunes.

Is there a player that's similar in size from another manufacturer?

What's this linux for ipods business?

OGG is eleventy billion X better than WMA IMO. Convert one song from WAV (CD rip) into two files, one file being WMA 64kbps and an OGG file at Quality 1, then compare. The OGG file will be smaller and sound SIGNIFICANTLY better.

Why not compare lossless WMA to lossless OGG? OGG is lossless, right?

I don't believe you can get OGG as lossless, for my lossless formats, I use FLAC.

The ipod is not stupid because you ripped all your music to WMA and didn't know it couldn't play them.;)

Why do you want lossless on a portable anyway, there isn't even a real line out, just convert to something that it can play and you can fit a lot more stuff on there.

But seriously, where did you send your nano off to upgrade the memory to 10 gigs?

My MP3 colletion is 10 GB. If I used lossless, it would eat my 250gb hard drive instantly, and I wouldnt have anything on my ipod....

All loossless formats sound EXACTLY THE SAME with the same source. That's the entire POINT of lossless audio.

Queue up all your WMA stuff to convert to Apple lossless and let iTunes run overnight. In the morning, you can play it all on the iPod at the same quality.

I hate itunes.

Whatever, I don't need an ipod. Like I said I haven't used it in months. Usually just for skiing. It can sit until next season, then I'll ski to some old ass music.

Stupid ipod.

you must be encoding in insame bitrate. I convert all WMA music to mp3 / AAC for my ipod nano and it's pretty fast on a G4 machine.

I'm not religious on the audio codec format, but you must have known that ipod doesn't support WMA before you encoded the songs right?

lastly, where did you have the 10G upgrade for the ipod nano?

btw, using dbpoweramp and the windows media codecs and the apple codes and the flac codecs you can simply right click on some songs and convert them to whatever you want on the spot.....

Funny how the OP has been deafly silent on the answer to this question, though it has been asked several times.

I am calling shens. I'd love for the OP to p3wn me with some pics, but I don't see that happening...

If it's lossless like you say it is, why not just convert to mp3 like a normal person?
