While browsing clothes for Christmas gifts, I noticed something about men's boxer shorts. Some of them had a button or two at the fly opening, and some did not.

Do things "peak out" from the opening and is it uncomfortable if you buy the kind without a button?

I'm being serious. I dont want to buy a gift for a gentlemen without knowing this.

It's more of a hassle to unbutton and button it up again when you go to the john. Not to mention the frustration of unbuttoning if you really need to go.

Things do occasionally peak out if you don't have the button. The button is still horrible, and I never wear the boxers with buttons.

Boxer briefs for the win. No buttons allowed. :)

I hate the button and leave it open but like most guys their equipment 'hangs' on one side or the other so it doesn't usually cause an issue.

I don't use the trap-door, I think it's pretty useless. As for "poking out," it's not something I've experienced...

Another vote for boxer briefs. I made the switch and will never go back.

Doesn't matter to me, the button is a pain when you really gotta go but otherwise it's fine. Very rarely I flop out normally the equipment hangs below the fly or to the side a bit so it doesnt pop out.

I don't know why people hate the button so much...its always popping out without it. Besides, if you don't like the button...don't button it, and you're in the same boat as before.
