I have a new-found respect for some people....

rudeguy

Lifer
The people I respect are the people who are not afraid to bang a left in front of cars that are going straight when a light turns green. Way to take the initiative.

The people who I deem stab-worthy are those who are too busy messing with their cell phones/ipods/whatever to walk...especially at work. If you are in a crowded hallway, put the damn tihng away until using it won't mess with everyone around you. I am so sick of having to dodge people walking in a zig zig line because they haven't looked up to see where they are going in at least 5 minutes.

Thank you. That is all.

I love people who have meetings in the hallway. Fifty thousand freaking offices and conference rooms and six people have to pile up outside of my door to talk about their project.

lol, I have done that in the past, seems to piss everyone off

The people that I have respect for are the ones that hold off on going straight and let me take a left at a light with no arrow and heavy traffic, I could buy those people a muffin!

Aren't you supposed to yield to the cars going straight? In any case, keep doing what you do 😉

What's "bang a left"?

at a light where there is no protected left, and you are waiting to turn left, and there happens to be a ton of people going straight in the other direction, you basically gas it hard right as the light turns green and turn left in front of all the people who are going straight.

Godamn that sounds fucking complicated

That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard.

I wish bad things on anyone who does that (though, to be honest, bad things will eventually happen to them if they do it enough). Sadly bad things will also happen to other non assholes.

the risk only falls against the reaction time of drivers opposite of you. usually their reaction time is quite poor.

To the left hook bangers, watch for them... punch it just enough to get them to stop. Then you stop and act like it is all their fault they have brought an entire 4 way intersection to a stop.

The hallway hangers I usually just join in the conversation, start reading over their shoulders, etc. They tend to get the hint, but if not, I shove my way through.

At least we have electricity.

I hate that too. Especially when they only have to wait 5 whole seconds. If they had a hummer that can eject huge boxing gloves attached to the front bumper I would buy one.

Come drive in Long Island sometime. We call this a "Long Island Left." It's actually expected for this to occur around here.

I've actually been honked at by some asshole behind me for not cutting left in front of oncoming traffic when the light changed.

I agree on the people with the cell phones. I can't stand people who are walking really slow because they are on their cell phones and don't look up to see where they are going to begin with. It's almost so tempting to throw something in front of them to have them trip.

Remember middle school when you would walk up behind someone and kick one of their legs into the other one while they were walking?

That works fabulous on people dicking with their phones.

Intel employees LOVE to do this.

THOUSANDS of cubicles or offices in the buildings [or conference rooms in the fab] - where do they stand? right in the way of traffic... sometimes I wish it was legal to GTAIV people on and off the roads... 🙂

I know of all the jerk-offs who drive on LI as I grew up here and come back occasionally from school, but I've never heard of it being called a "LI Left."

I always called that a 'Pittsburgh left'.

I've only been to Pittsburgh once and never really experienced traffic there, but I went to Boston and my cousin drove me around. Every time someone wanted to make a left turn when there was no arrow for it, exactly two people got to go per light - the one who quickly went at the beginning, and the one who had creeped forward and made his turn after all the other traffic had stopped.

When I do it I usually get the finger, a honk, or whatever from whoever had the right-of-way, as if I significantly impacted their speed and position when they were starting from a stand-still. On the other hand, idiots do try to get away with it when they shouldn't. One of those idiots didn't anticipate that I was in a hurry and slammed perpendicularly right into the side of me, completely smashing in my driver's side door and the area around it, forcing me to exit through the passenger's side. I don't know how they did so much damage from a stand-still only yards away, but they did. When they officer talked to the guy and he got to the part of the story where he says "and that's when he hit me" the officer had to interrupt him and laugh saying "Son, say whatever else you want, true or false, but let me tell you something: YOU hit HIM." I still got a lecture from the officer about taking off as fast as I admitted to "because I was trying to reach Taco Bell before they closed at 1:00AM" on my way home from work. Needless to say (but I'll say it anyway), I didn't make it. 🙁
