I eat McDonald's relatively regularly...then again I usually only order a double quarter pounder with cheese and make broccoli and other good carbs with it.

McDonalds is great. I don't eat there much anymore, but it's always a treat when I do; a very cheap treat. the price:enjoyment ratio blows away any fine dining experience for me.

I used to eat McDoubles for lunch 4 out of 5 work days a few months ago, for about a year. It was cheap at only $3.25 including tax for 2 McDoubles and a medium or large coffee. They design those burgers so you can really wolf them down before your stomach knows they are there. Pretty delicious for the price, though.

I went vegan in November and there's basically nothing I can eat from there anymore, with the possible exception of their oatmeal. Burger King's fries are vegan, though, so sometimes I stop there when I'm craving fast food fries.

I still love McDonald's premium coffee, but I go there less often. It's funny, the burger and fries smell used to trigger craving but not really so much anymore. If I smell bacon, though, that still makes my mouth water.

I eat a decent amount of McD's too :p

I avoid all the beef because of transfat, anything chicken is fair game.

Uhh, trans-fats are associated with hydrogenated oils, not beef, most restaurants(including Mcd's) use non hydrogenated oils for frying nowadays anyway. With a heavy intake of beef you risk elevating your triglycerides though, I still like McD's once a week when me and the wife get a Big Mac craving.. :p

I've had a lot of bad Filet-o-Fish sammiches, but I've had a lot of awesome ones too. I keep going back.

I've had that happen on occasion too, they fry up to many sometimes and when that happens you get a dried out one, I like to make sure I eat the fish sandwich when I'm eating there, that way if I get a dried out fish Pattie I can go right back to the counter and swap it out with a fresh one..

MCD's is meh to me, pretty much everyone I know claims to make the most uber home made burgers that blow fast food out the water. I've found this to be very untrue. The majority of people seem to give themselves way too much credit for their cooking abilities. MCD's double's are just decent, but at least they're consistent. The dozens of "home made" burgers I had pretty much universally were shitty.

"ohhh look at me, I got expensive Kobe beef, Brioche buns & the Tilimok Cheedar. BOW DOWN TO MY BURGER!" And it's never as good as they brag about. Same holds true for Steaks and Pizza. Reminds me of how everyone shows pics of their baby "are they the most adorable baby ever!" and they're probably the only one who thinks that.

No really, check the menu.

McDouble: 1g trans fat
McChicken: 0g trans fat

Angus Bacon Burger: 2g trans fat
Chicken Bacon thing: 0g trans fat

BigMac: 1g trans fat
Chicken club : 0g trans fat

you get the idea.

Go down the list, trans fat column. All right there in a row, things with beef 0.5 - 2g trans fat. Get to the chicken, 0,0,0,0,0,0.

More beef, 0.5-2g, then some more chicken, 0,0,0,0,0,0.

That's a small amount of trans-fat that occurs naturally in meats, my beloved Big Mac has 29 grams of fat and 1 gram of trans-fat..

This. I've tried. I'm no slouch in the kitchen either. I've tried virtually every combination of English muffins, different ways of cooking the eggs, different types of sausage patties and it just doesn't quite measure up.

McDonalds sausage is pretty damn good. Sometimes I order 2-3 sausage biscuits, toss the biscuits, and use my low carb bread. Jack in the Box's sausage is good too. Fast food palces must add msg or something to their sausages. In fact, if McDonalds was open right now I'd buy some sausages. Now I'll be dreaming about it...

If you can't make a burger at home that's immensely better than something at McD then you probably shouldn't be ever let into a kitchen again.

my first job at 16 was a Mcducks and on my 30 min break we got a free meal. my favorite was the filet o fish, so I would make my own with a extra squirt of tarter sauce and an extra slice of cheese. so good.

I don't know if it's the shitty buns or the shitty meat or what, but somehow I'm re-addicted. Are the preservatives laced with crack cocaine? Maybe it's because I ate these fucking things by the dozen when I was a kid and deep in my psyche I crave that shit.

But damn, in the past 2 days I've had 2 McDoubles, 2 Double Cheeseburgers, and 2 McChickens.

Double Cheeseburger + McChicken + Large coke = $3!!!!

Costs less than an Amy's frozen lasagna.

Never mind ...

Slightly off-topic, but if you're looking to eat cheap and easy:

1. Get an On-Cor frozen lasagna, $2.50 on sale at Kroger if you're lucky.
2. Get a can of green beans, $.50 on sale at Wal-Mart if you're lucky.

Cook the lasagna. Then drain the green beans, add condiments (butter, olive oil, salt, pepper, whatever), and microwave the green beans 2 minutes on high.

Serves three meals for $1 each! (Not including condiments.)

I was addicted (well, too strong a word, but went there daily for a short while) over 50 years ago, way before they started expanding the menu. Got over it pretty quick. It was involved with some intense feelings I had at the time.

Then waste water and time cleaning dishes too.
