No Rollo, being unethical is when you actually do something that is unethical. Thinking about it does not imply performing said action. It also does not void any warrantee agreement that I know of.
I am certain if I search this forum I will find that you have posted some question or replied to as to how to perform some type of mod. Does that make you unethical. Come on now.
And I am not his uncle. I am merely a relative, and not even a blood one at that. You have flamed him, you have written to the mods several times from what I can see. You've done your duty. Going to MSI and Newegg was going beyond and uncalled for when you do not actually know for sure what was done. Do you do that for everyone that you come across who has watercooled or added ramsinks to their cards?!? Unlikely, and it should not have been done in this instance either.
I can understand you feeling sorry for this guy, being his relative and him being 13. Kids do stupid things, and teenagers have been known to be mouthy.
To be honest, I didn't know he was a kid when I sent my emails to MSI and newegg.
Go ahead and search what I've posted about mods and OCing. You'll see I've always said I don't care if a person OCs a component, as long as they realize they're risking the part and accept responsibility for it.
I was banned over on Firing Squad over a year ago for saying the same thing. The mods there have signatures like "Knight Of the Supreme OCing Skillz".
As far as mynewrigissick goes, I have not written the mods about him. I wrote the people he was trying to steal from about him.
I doubt his dad even knows what is going on here, but have you ever heard the saying,"It takes a village to raise a child"? I think mynewrigissick just found out the village doesn't approve of his behavior and hopefully will learn from this.
Or maybe he'll just stay petulant and tell me to "hump a tree" again?
