You're not missing much, Anubis. The movie is grossly over-rated and only held my attention for so long. It's a good popcorn movie that I would say is advisable to see in the theater for the atmosphere and action alone, but the movie itself is very convoluted and gimmicky. Ledger could only do so much for it, everyone else seemed to only range from mediocre to obnoxious.

you can make up for it by buying the dvd and bluray.

Wat? So what do you consider to be a good movie? The acting was awesome all around (although Ledger was by far the highlight); and convoluted? I prefer complex. Like most good movies.
I won't see it till it comes out on DVD.Originally posted by: Anubis

Well since you asked..
First, the love triangle and what happened between Batman, Harvey and Rachel Dawes was a little overplayed. mostly by Harvey (that could just be Eckhart though, ever see him get mad in The Core? very overdramatic). Then, the whole cell phone mapping thing Lucius Fox came up with was very unbelievable even for a Batman movie. Also, how did The Joker keep escaping situations with the cops and the other bad guys? Like.. give me a break. And I'm sure you could come up with a valid explaination for all of these, especially in the land of fiction, but things like that erk me when a movie is trying to be serious.
And what do *I* consider a good movie? Simple.. Shawshank, 12 Angry Men, Pulp Fiction, The Matrix, V for Vendetta.. I can't see how anymore could unbiasedly put The Dark Knight above any of those. Those are just off the top of my head too, and except for Shawshank each is complex and full of good acting.
I got nothing against Batman or TDK, I just don't get what people see in it that has them putting it on such a high pedestal. Maybe it's just me, maybe I can't take a superhero movie seriously, but even being as unbiased as I can I just can't understand the hype.
