Easy guide:

Cook until the fat starts to bubble, then flip and cook 20-30 more seconds.

BTW- I use a cast iron bacon press. Love that thing :)

Microwave: cover the bacon with a paper towel to prevent most splashing and 1 minute on high per slice. New powerful microwaves may only need 45 seconds per slice.

Pan: Bacon cooks long AFTER it is removed from the pan. Pull it when it is mostly cooked but still looks undercooked and flexible. The remaining hot oil on the bacon will cook it to perfection on your plate. If you pull it when it looks cooked, it'll be burnt beyond recognition by the time it finishes cooking on your plate.

Oven: this is the easiest way to cook bacon. Low heat for long a time. The best bacon I've ever had is cooked for 6-10 hours at 185°F. Although, I usually am not that patient and you can use higher temperatures for shorter periods of time.

Yep, this. I always cook my bacon in the oven, it comes out perfect that way.

I'll post pics of my BLT from last night later.

Try to undercook it. By the time it dries out, you'll be surprised how done it is. I used to have the same problem. I'd always burn it beyond recognition. I then began taking it out when it looked under cooked, and it then became delicious.

This is the best way to start. Quality bacon cooks and tastes much better. I rarely buy anything other than Hormel Black Label or Oscar Mayer bacon and never have problems with bacon.

Like my wife always says, you can't cook well from the office. Gotta stay in the kitchen.
The smoke detector is NOT a timing device.

There are lots of tricks:

1) Make sure the bacon is thawed.
2) Lower the heat
3) Make sure that all the bacon is flat on the grill or it will cook some of it, but not all of it. If this happens it will be impossible to cook uniformly.
4) Take it off the frill before it is done to your liking. It will continue to cook for a little bit while it is on the plate.
5) Enjoy.

This is how I cook bacon.

I have an electric cooktop with a range of 1-9.

I use non-stick Calphalon pans with Pam or any type of no-stick spray.

I turn the cooktop to 8.

Lay out enough bacon to cover the pan without bacon overlapping and arranged in the same fashion... so when it curls they curl the same direction.

I get the initial curl and shrinkage then flip. - 1-2 minutes cooking time

I then get the second smaller curl and shrinkage then flip again. 1-2 minutes cooking time

I then wait until I can see the sizzling greese coming through the bacon and remove. The bacon seems to continue to cook even after removed.

After my initial batch I can lower the temp to 7-7 1/2 b/c enough greese has accumulated to help cook the bacon faster.
