you have to tell it to "Remember each folder's view settings" in the folder options, then it will remember what you set.

That is set. And it's not in the view settings. It's in the folder properties.

I've never had that issue. I don't put them in the "my music" folder, I made my own. Of course, all my albums are in sub directories but still when I've had misc. stuff laying in a directory I've always been able to view>list, sort by>date modified. I'm running XP Pro not Home, don't know if that makes a difference here.

THEY ARE NOT IN MY MUSIC. THAT IS THE PROBLEM. WINDOWS DECIDED ON ITS OWN TO SET THE FOLDER TO A "MUSIC" FOLDER.

If the folder is set to List Details, then right click on the details catagory bar (name, size, etc) and add the Date Modified catagory. Otherwise, you should be able to right click and just sort by date modified.

My music files are broken out into the genre subdirectories, jazz, r&b, soul, etc. And I can put them into what ever order I want.

Maybe I do not understand what your problem is....

Guys... I'm not an idiot. I'm not asking for help. I know what to do, but the problem is a WinXP bug. I organize my folders by artist, but this applies to the Kazaa download directory (all legal licenses of course).

Don't worry, I am not trying to help you and you are and idiot for calling something a bug just because YOU can't figure out how to fix it. I changed all my music folders ages ago to stop showing tag info and to treat them like ordinary data files so I don't see how this can be a bug. Others don't seem to suffer from your affliction either.....have a nice day😀😉.

Actually other people are having the same problem, as they posted above. Myself, I have the same problem. I would like to know how to fix this but I won't look for help here.

yep. I've been telling you guys for years that XP licks my nads (and sucks at it) but few listen. They're too distracted by the resource hogging pretty colors and gay ass media players.

werd. winxp sucks my wang. Win2k is the only OS I'll use on my home computers.

So when you disable the pretty colors and go back to a standard Windows98 look and don't use the "gay ass" media players, your arguement is pretty much null and void. The fact of the matter is that WindowsXP rocks. Compatability with programs meant only for specific OS's rocks. Win2k does rock, yes. And so does WinXP.

If you go to the trouble to disable all that then why bother using XP to begin with?

Word. Why install many megabytes of junk only to disable it? I just use 2k pro and it's great as-is.
