I am guessing you guys never lived in the city?
Or maybe lived somewhere where you can find rentals listed in the newspaper.....or (here's a real thriller), on the INTERNET. 😱

If it had to do with you selling and them either taking too long or not getting enough money or both, save the effort, we know the drill, and oh it's a painful one, been there done that.I hate f-ing realtors. I swear to God I never want to buy/sell another house, what a miserable experience that I am WAY too lazy to type out.
Thanks for making my point. The realtors artificially inflate housing prices so they get bigger commissions, which are already a ridiculous amount.
Usually the Landlord pays the commision.I have no issues with the realtor that I used to buy my house, IMO she was well worth the commission. That being said, having to pay commission to find a rental does seem obscene.
So where are you moving into in Cambridge? I grew up in Cambridge and Belmont.

East Cambridge. It close to the Gallaria Mall. My gf and I wanted to get as close to boston as possible (used to live in back bay). The other place we was near Harvard on MAGNOLIA AVE. Thing was that it was a basement. Not sure we could adjust to that. We need sunlight.
Hah! I work in the Canal Park offices (right next to the Galleria mall).
I grew up in East Cambridge too (Sciarappa St). My parents still own that house and they rent out, for around $1100-1200/month I think (2 bedroom units).
2 beds for 1200? Man....where were you a month ago....lol. Our 1 bed is 1100.

Not to mention the fact that the buyers and sellers agent are usually working together. When I bought my last house my agent literally sat in the office next door to the sellers agent.
If I were a buyers agent...honestly I wouldn't really care if my buyers got the best deal. Aside from the fact that I'm paid a percentage of the sale price (meaning I get more money the worse deal they get) I really just want the sale to get through so I can my money.
Based on my buying experience, the hardest thing I think my realtor did was write the offer contract. The rest of the time he drove us around or met us somewhere and acted as a gatekeeper to the MLS. Frankly, that seems like pretty easy work for a 3% sale commission on a $250K item. I realize buyers and sellers can be flighty and emotional, but its not like the realtor is actually on the hook for anything. At most they're going to be out some gas money.

I now I know why...god damn, do you guys have to get an approval form from a waste disposal expert before taking a dump too? How many fucking people does it take to perform a simple transaction!
Fine. Buy or sell your house without one. Let us know how it went. And don't forget to post the comps and prove you really made out like a bandit in the end.
Sometimes. The agent though is responsible for marketing the rental along with showing it and qualifying the tenant.Yeah but they pass those costs along to the tenant in the form of higher rent.
