Kudos to your Mom, who obviously cares about you and the things you input into your brain. I'm sure you've heard this before, but by the time you hit 25 years of age, you'll look back on it and know she was trying to do the right thing.

I wish all parents took more of an interest in what their kids are doing, watching, etc, on an everyday basis.

Starship Troopers, one of my favourites, got 10 for violence. They had this to say:

-Lots of gory scenes.
-Many battles between the bugs and humans.
-Many humans are eaten or impaled by bugs, with lots of blood; humans are torn in half, limbs are strewn around and guts are outside bodies.
-Many humans are beheaded by flying bugs with claws and some are sucked into the ground by burrowing bugs -- a man is shown with bloody stumps after being sucked into the ground.
-A woman is impaled through the stomach and chest and people try to hold her down to take claws out while a lot of blood is spewing out.
-A woman is cut in half by a door (with lots of blood).
-Men are impaled but still alive as the bugs manipulate their impaled bodies.
-A bug pokes a man's head and sucks his brains out as his face seems to deflate.
-A man is sliced open and we see his insides.
-A bug is experimented upon with shocks, etc.
-When bugs are shot or bombed there is a lot of goo.
-A bug eats a cow (blood and other matter splatters everywhere).
-A man's head is shot off with blood and brains splattering.
-A man has a hole in his head and another man sticks his fingers in the hole.
-A sergeant beats up on recruits by whacking them with clubs, punching them, and he breaks a person's arm with a crack.
-Recruits are shocked with zap guns.
-A man chokes a woman with his legs and a woman has bruises on her throat.
-A man throws a knife through a man's hand.
-A man is flogged with blood shown on his back with each lash.
-Hospital scenes with lots of blood and people with amputated limbs.
-A woman's arm catches fire and it melts off.
-The bugs are gross looking.
-Fires and explosions.

I love that movie :D!

from the Lion King.

VIOLENCE/GORE 3 - Many scary scenes with bloody battles; several end in death. Hyenas are involved in many of the fight scenes: one has its cheek slashed, others are knocked around, one lands in a thorny patch and several fall into a brush fire. One character is shown being trampled in a wildebeest stampede, and then he is shown falling from a cliff to his death. Another character rolls down a long rocky incline, and almost dies of heat exposure. There is a bloody fight ending with one of the participants being killed by hyenas (off-camera). One character is dunked in a boiling pot.

Heat exposure?.....Noooooooooooo. Where's the humanity?

From "Groundhog Day":

VIOLENCE/GORE 2 - Murray punches his insurance man in the nose. There is a segment where he comically commits suicide in a variety of ways: Driving into a rock quarry, diving from a ledge, electrical appliance in the bathtub, etc. When the day starts over again, he's alive and well and no worse for the wear. None of the suicides are portrayed graphically. A street beggar passes away in his sleep.

Would someone PLEASE think of the children!

this is what they said about LOTR.

SEX/NUDITY 1 - A man and woman kiss tenderly. Young people are shown dancing during a celebration.

where's the sex or nudity in 'dancing during a celebration'?

is it like... oh no... they are dancing... and after the celebration... they are all going to get laid?

Can't watch it at a friends? I would agree that it is nice that your mom is watching out for you like some people in here are stating... IF you were under 13... but you're nearly 16 and I think you should be able to watch PG-13 movies, and an occasional R movie won't do you much harm ;)

I can't believe they gave Monster, Inc a violence rating of 4!!!!

How long 'till you're 18?

Got any younger siblings? Be kind and start breaking in your parents, so your sibs have an easier time. Break some rules.

He is SIXTEEN...its a PG-13 movie. Which brings up the point of why are you asking your mother if you can watch movies, and what the hell is wrong with her?
>>

I truely hope you never have children
>>

Yes, because his mother is certainly above the rating system, which deems this movie OK for 13 year olds. I truly hope you never have children, cause it seems like they'll grow up in a fundamentalist, sheltered world.

This website is absurd. In the royal tenenbaums, they note under sexuality/nudity "Two men hug in friendship".

Ditto. It's nice to see your mom caring, but for your age, she's overstepping the bounds.

There is a fine line between caring for your kids and being over protective. over protective parents arent preparing their kids for the real world.

if the real world can be rated by that sites rating system. it would be 10-10-10.
