The only things I HATE about Sams Club is you have to show them your membership as you are walking in the door, and you have to show someone your receipt as you are walking out the door and they have to mark it with a marker. That creates a huge clusterfvck, especially during the holidays, as they usually select the most inept, old, retarded person to do this. And only one person doing it at any given time.

Costco is the same . I never saw inept, old, retarded people doing the job at either place.

Every time I go to Sams there's always one guy standing there checking receipts and he's always at least 65+ years old and takes freaking forever. I still think I might just leave next time and see if they stop me.

For those asking why the membership fee's. It's simple. It's more money in the long run. On average, I think the savings from any of these warehouse places is around 3%. So, if you pay $45...you'd need to spend over $1500 just to start actually SAVING money over a normal store. Do you really think most members spend that much a year? And if they do, the savings is well worth giving for these companies. Many companies do this with membership cards, even places that require no memberships. Look at barnes and nobles. $25 membership card to save 10% on things in the store. Great.. that means you have to spend over $250 to start saving money and I don't want to spend that much in a year on barnes and nobles. It's a racket unless you have a huge family and can actually spend that much on tons of crap. $45 may not seem like a lot at first but when you look at the savings comparions to what you have to spend.. its dumb unless you really do plan on spending over that amount in one year.

do you know anything about a families expenses? $1500.00 / year for peanutbutter, jelly, ketchup, salsa, soy sauce. is easy, never mind all the other stuff you buy there, breads, cakes etc.

True and if you are smart you share the membership with a friend or neighbor. That way you get it for half price.

BTW, you're only allowed to have two members on a single gold membership (you and somebody else), and a total of three on a business membership.

The business membership I am on has the primary and four secondaries the last time I checked.

Interesting license you have. I checked mine and it doesn't say anywhere on it who my father is.

<Ahnuld>Who is your daddy, and what does he do?</Ahnuld>

So today my buddy and I go to Sam's club to round up some food for a camping trip. We spend around an hour gathering together 150$ worth of food, and take it to the register. Now I myself am not a member, but my father is, and I have his card, so I give it to the lady. I give her the card and my liscense to prove that I'm my Dad's son, to which she promptly replies that only the cardholder himself can use the card. Than the cashier goes on break. We go and try and talk to the manager, who's sitting around and doing nothing, she just blows us off.

I have never been to a store where they don't allow immediate family members to use a membership, I can't tell if it's just horrible company policy, or just the fact that the cashier was lazy and didn't want to check out 150$ worth of food. Either way, my Dad and I were pissed off enough that we canceled our memebership and will never shop there again.

/rant

why even bother showing your id. just say you are the person on the card.

Then when I finally get through that line I have to wait in line just ot get OUT of the F'ing store. I really wonder what they could do if I just walked out and didn't show my receipt... Once I've paid for the items and gotten my receipt they are legally mine and I shouldn't have to show anything to anyone

Sam's Club does have an express lane. It's the place they sell the tobacco products. :p
