I hate Sam's Club

So today my buddy and I go to Sam's club to round up some food for a camping trip. We spend around an hour gathering together 150$ worth of food, and take it to the register. Now I myself am not a member, but my father is, and I have his card, so I give it to the lady. I give her the card and my liscense to prove that I'm my Dad's son, to which she promptly replies that only the cardholder himself can use the card. Than the cashier goes on break. We go and try and talk to the manager, who's sitting around and doing nothing, she just blows us off.

I have never been to a store where they don't allow immediate family members to use a membership, I can't tell if it's just horrible company policy, or just the fact that the cashier was lazy and didn't want to check out 150$ worth of food. Either way, my Dad and I were pissed off enough that we canceled our memebership and will never shop there again.

uhhh... your father has a responsibility to add members (you're entitled to one free membership) onto his account. he could do that free of charge (a spouse, a son, or anyone) through the website (or through the member services desk). he should have done that, in which case you'd merely have to go to the membership desk to have your card printed out.

bitching because you refuse to acknowledge the rules (or research them for that matter) is pathetic.

on that note, my husband and i went to sam's club today and got lots of goodies.

Srry, I don't want to spend an hour reading the rules on what I'm allowed to do at a store that we already pay a membership for.

the membership "rules" for sam's club are actually shorter than the length of your first post here.
 
I don't get what the whole point of the membership thing is. Don't they make enough money off what they sell since they're selling bulk sizes? I can't imagine they make much money off the memberships. Why even have memberships?

i like sams club, and i never have problems.

You suck at teh life. You could've just gone and bought a member ship, they're only like $30
 
costco is worth the membership. We ditched sams club in favor of costco. Costco is two miles from my house, versus sams being 4 miles. We belonged to Pace and Source Club before Sams and Costco, so we've seen them all. Costco FTW.

BTW, you're only allowed to have two members on a single gold membership (you and somebody else), and a total of three on a business membership.

not everyone takes advantage of it. in the end, they're making $35 (or more, depending on the level of membership) off every member.

i bought a sam's club membership to use at the sam's club closest to my office. in the end, i don't even go to that one. i can see how people could lose the desire to have to lug a bunch of bulk goods (especially when you live in an apartment and don't have a driveway or garage), therefore not taking advantage of the membership. in the end, that's free money for them.

same goes for mail-in rebates. if you don't take advantage of them, it's money in someone else's pocket.

They make a significant amount of their net income from membership fees. They have a cap (I don't remember exactly, something like 10-12%) on what they can charge above cost for their goods.

...which is still more than enough for the OP, unless the OP's dad has two heads (but even then, i think sam's club would accommodate)
