Ok and a Mac Mini or a SFF PC won't do? You spend $150 but you gotta get games games more games etc etc accessories...

I quote from some thread I read

PSP $249.99
Case $9.99
Car Kit $14.99
512Mb MS $64.99
Game $29.99
Game $39.99
Game $39.99
TOTAL:
Including tax $487.05

Um. Ill be content with my $269 iPod + $30 case with my 10.2 GB of music. I think that's money better spent.

Yes and go play Ridge Racer on your ipod. How about watching a movie? Nobody buys a PSP to listen to music only.

Um then get a computer. Let's see you play Half-Life 2 at 1280x1024 on your PSP. I'm saying the PSP's extra features are just bleh and as for the games themselves.... what's so gratifying about 320x240 games or whatever the small screen is.

Ok bring your computer on the train/bus during your commute and play Half Life 2. Bring it with you on the plane or while waiting at the airport. The PSP is PORTABLE! I don't see why people are comparing it to computers, tv's and ipods. Its not supposed to replace any of those things. It is for people who are mobile and would like to have some entertainment when being mobile.

You're absolutely correct.

There's also no point in expensive $200 cellular phones with their expensive $50 ac adapters and their expensive $20 cases when you could have your old clunky dial phone at home for $20, which is sturdier, sounds better, and bigger too.

Laptop?

Why buy this thing for entertainment when there are tons of stuff that CAN give you entertainment + all much more. Computers aren't for entertainment, but they CAN provide entertainment. Cell phones aren't CAMERAS but they CAN do that. Thus PSP is still a waste of money.

Look at all the parents being dragged by their kids to buy one... har.

i use my psp on the train ride to and from work everyday to:

watch movies
watch tv shows
play games
listen to music

and it is much lighter and cheaper than a laptop.

well let's just say all your mp3s are from itunes at $0.99 each and at 10.2 GB, that's 1700 songs (I'll be generous and assume that each song is 6 MB). With 1700 songs at 99 cents each, that comes to $1683 so it's really $269 + $30 + $1683 = $1982...unless of course you acquired the mp3s from other means.

Tittie mags?

Find me a good laptop that plays Half Life 2 for under $1000. Can you play HL2 on the bus? I imagine finding it difficult to play any game FPS or not with a mouse on a bus/plane/train anywhere without a table basically.

Plus laptops that can play higher end games not only are super expensive but are as heavy as a bag full of bricks.

xbox -modd
psp -modd
gamecube
mac mini -overclocked
nokia 6230i -gig mmc
ds
freanken-pc -meh..
civic with dc-header and k&n intake back from when I was 18. now its just a good commuter car.
nothing paid at msrp =P

why? just for the heck of it.

holy sh!t, over 3 hours and still hammering on the poor PSP. dude, move on. it's over. it was marketed and was a huge success. sorry you lost the battle, but people actually like it. sucks eh?

Man, are you serious?

I'm not PSP fan, I don't own one, and I won't own one. But its foolish to say its a worthless machine.

Does your ipod watch movies and play games?
Does your laptop fit in your pocket and cost $250?
Would you really trust your kid with a laptop?

Its a portable gaming machine, that has some nice additional features as well. Don't be a moron.

Ok I dont lose because of this.

If I don't need to spend a bunch of $$$ to make myself happy while you need to spend $2 million to make yourself smile, then who loses. Assuming we make the same income etc, then I get to save my money while you waste it all just so you are "happy." I dont see how I lose when I will save money so I can buy a better car or a better house when you're buying everything you see so that you settle for mediocrity?

Spending $400 on a PSP, games, accessories, etc. beats the hell out of spending $1000+ for a laptop.

Just for clarification:

$400 < $1000
