Yeah that episode pissed me off. Especially since the guys wifetobe was all mushmouthed about it. She complained about it, so he cut back on it, got rid of his stash and just started looking at it on the internet. But in womanly fashion, compromise was not good enough...he had to change an aspect of himself that he admittedly didn't see a problem with just for her. Wow. Great advice. Compromise yourself away.

I heard 3-4 times a week, and I also heard 3-5 hours a week...which apparently makes him an addict? Sh|t, I'm way more addicted to video games than that. I'm sure some guys are more addicted to bass fishing or stamp collecting or working on their car. That is if you take the definition of "addicted" to be "enjoys". I highly doubt that guy is going to suffer withdrawl symptoms if he's locked in a room with no porn for a week. At worst, I would call that "a bit much". I would never throw the addict word on him though.

The typical argument: "It makes me feel like I'm not enough!" Too bad. Too fvcking bad...what are you going to do after the porn is gone? Turn off the TV, those girls on fear factor are to hot! Those magazines that come in the mail...the girls are to hot in those, better get rid of those! You could lock the guy in the house and gouge his eyes out and he'd still imagine fvcking his 3rd grade teacher every once in awhile. Call the thought police!

Sorry b|tch! You don't get to control his thoughts! Get the fvck over it. There are other women, and he's going to think about fvcking them. Just because he's dating you and has promised to be with you only does not mean he is dead to the world.

I know my fiance looks at other guys once and awhile and gets the hots for them. But I don't think about it, I don't dwell on it and I don't feel threatened by it because I know she's with me and me only.

I remember I caught a part of an episode once where this woman was asking Dr. Phil why her husband has lost sexual interest in her. She was about 5'4, 250 lbs. They'd been married about 5 years. She was sobbing showing pictures of them together back when they were happy, when he still wanted her. First thing I noticed in those pictures was that she was a hot 105 lb chick. Now 5 years later she's a 250 lb whale.

Dr. Phil gave this long speech of TOTAL BULLSH!T about how it isn't her, it's complex emotions, blah blah blah. Not once in his long filibuster of BS did he ever mention her weight or how she's totally let herself go.

This fraud claims to be an expert but he intentionally avoids stating the most obvious cause. I think he knows the real reason, but as other posters pointed out, he's a sellout to his audience which is 99% fat women like Oprah. Stating an obvious reason like that would be career suicide for him. He's made a career out of telling people what they want to hear in a pseudo-scientific manner.

Of course his educated point of view pisses you perverts off. Do any of you nitwits have a psychology show or even a psyhcology degree?

I've been saying all along that porn is NOT normal and shouldn't be accepted behavior. People who post frequently on the Internet are people who spend a lot of time there and probably get their porn fix on it too, so the opinions expressed on forums like this are totally skewed. Porn is NOT healthy....it does the same damage mentally as smoking does physically and should be similarly viewed as reprobate behavior.

You "hate" the guy because he expresses an opinion opposite to your own? Yeah, that's rational. Maybe you're a little TOO addicted...er...attached to your porn.

Porn is just sexual fantasies pictured in a 2d enviroment HeroOfPellinor.

So if I didn't watch porn but fantasised and J/O each day, would that be a addiction, cause I'd be watching things in my mind?

So how else am I supposed to relieve my sexual stresses?

You don't need a psychology degree to understand why he says what he does. Business 101 will tell you that. He's a television personality and he's going for the money, plain and simple. He is catering to his audience, which is predominantly women.

You hardly need either of those to offer advice. Hell, you don't even need a psych degree to have a psychology show if Dr. Laura is any indication.

I've been saying all along that porn is NOT normal and shouldn't be accepted behavior. First, define normal.

Second, I'd like to see that medical study where pornography causes brain cancer. Is it by the same research team that showed the relationship between harry palms and masturbation?

Third, I could pretty easily make a skewing argument based on any aspect of some one's life...that doesn't make it true. Its obvious I'd have a bias since I look at porn everyone once and awhile. But its equally obvious that you have one since you don't.

Fourth, What do you mean by 'accepted' behavior? Do you think people should be locked up for looking at pornography?

You "hate" the guy because he expresses an opinion opposite to your own? Yeah, that's rational. Maybe you're a little TOO addicted...er...attached to your porn.

I don't hate Dr. Phil. Show me where I said that. I actually watch that show pretty often. He usually just offers pretty no nonesense advice that anyone with a big mouth and a ounce of common sense would offer. And frankly, thats what a lot of people need.

so i guess my GF and I are both very VERY wierd and unhealthy people because we watch porn together sometimes ...

i would call NOT wanting to see naked chicks (if you are a straight male) WIERD and UNHEALTHY. its natural to want to see naked chicks because we are sexually attracted to them. looking at porn is just a way to take on this natural craving.

so now that its clear that me, a 5'11, 190lbs, lean and muscular guy, and my 5'7, 130lbs, fit girlfriend are very UNHEALTHY and WIERD because we watch porn, does that mean we need to go get help?

The people on the show remind me that I'm not doing that bad afterall when I've had a rough day. Its on right after work so I usually watch the end before the news comes on.

Yeah, when the woman is watching it I generally refer to him as Dr Obvious. He's off-base on this one, though.

A couple of things.

First, having a show on television says absolutely nothing about a person's credentials. The only thing having a television show says about a person is that they are sufficiently popular within a specific subset of the population that a network can sell commercials during that person's show. As "Dr." Laura proved, a person need not have any qualifications for the persona that he presents on his show.

Second, please post links to some objective and peer-reviewed journals where one can find studies to back up your assertions. Without any sort of bibliography provided from you, we have no rational option other than to assume that you're pulling everything you say out of thin air.

My inclination would be that the unhealthiness of pornography is directly linked to the severity of said pornography. I would agree that anything aside from so-called "softcore" pornography (i.e. nudes without any vulgar posing) is likely to be at least slightly degenerate and in especially vulgar forms is clearly severely degenerate. However, it would take a good deal of studies to convince me that artistic softcore pornography is a degenerate behaviour.

He's off base fairly often...rewarding that woman who was a shop-a-holic with a massive engagement ring if she stopped shopping for a month? Yeah, that woman needed a reward for all her hard work.

Why didn't she give this porno guy a coupon for one free lapdance while he was at it?

Most of the shows are pretty straight forward...again, pretty much just common sense advice.

"Beating your kids is bad for them!"

At least he got some of America's fatties on the treadmill.

Agreed.

I'd even go as far as to say that I'd piss on him and wouldn't stop pissing on him unless he somehow caught on fire due to the extreme pissing action taking place. At that point I'd stop pissing, fearing that any subsequent pissing may put out the piss-induced fire.
